Starcraft 2

Well apparently Blizzard is getting their act together with Starcaft 2. They started beta testing to the public today. This has to mean that they'll release SC2 fairly soon. But with Blizzard you never know. Although I'm still hoping it'll be released within the first half of the year. So I was just wondering, what's the common consensus among Civ fans about SC2?

If everyone were like me, Blizzard would be punished hard with a strong backlash of "we don't care anymore". Unless the game is overwhelmingly popular and hailed by gamers (like Mass Effect 2!), I really don't think I'll buy it soon, or ever.

No company should be allowed to just announce games so many years in advance and then make it seem as if it's ready to go for like 2 years. Unacceptable. Don't care anymore. Am somewhere else. This game is as good as vaporware by now, even if it does come out...

Well we'll see just how good it is.

It will be completely awesome, I will likely try to attend a midnight release, something I almost never do (haven't bought a lot of games in general lately, actually) and probably shut down whole university departments nationwide. I will at least own most of my American friends in multiplayer for a while I'm sure.

It is disappointing how Blizzard is handling the releases/SP but I expect massive sales and for the game to be something everyone is talking about.

Not really interested in it. Total Annihilation was always my sci-fi RTS of choice back in the day, never understood why anyone would prefer Starcraft.

I can hardly wait.
Since Dragon Age came out Starctaft 2 is the only game I am really looking forward to.
Or at leat it was until this morning when it was brought to my attention that Civ 5 is officially announced.

Never understood the obsession with balance. Imbalanced things tend to be far more fun. Anyway, Starcraft 2 is gonna be just another generic Dune 2 clone. Couldn't care less about it.

Ive looked into the beta, and it seems that the main issue is the players. Eg, the pros complain about the beginners, the beginners complain about the pros, and moderately skilled people dont get beta keys.

The game will be great, that's for sure, but if they release it before we're all die, that nobody knows :/

So, anybody here officially or inofficially playing the beta ? My thougts: it feels very Starcrafty and I love the new Protoss units. Also like how they brought a little micro into the economy with MULES and queens.
