I don't know if this question has already been asked/answered, so I apologize if it has. I'm just wondering whether or not there's a way to load the Earth scenarios (either the huge or the regular but preferably the huge) and have your civilization start in the "right" spots? Like, if you pick the English, have the English start where London would be today, the Americans where Washington, DC would be, the French where Paris would be, etc.?

At first, I thought this had to do with the culturally linked starting locations but unfortunately it doesn't. I found out that the culturally linked is just to put your civilization as close as possible to the civilizations which have been historically near you (e.g. if you choose France then it will try to place you close to like England and Germany, etc. so if England and Germany are located in South America then France would be down there, too -- but none of them would be in Europe).

I remember on Civ2 for the Macintosh it could do this. Like I'd always pick the English and the game would always start me out in the area where London would be. So, I was just wondering, does anyone know of a way to fix the starting locations?

Thanks!

PS I'm running Civ3 on OS X.

I'm running the Mac version, too, but without special tools or scenarios, correct starting locations are basically not going to happen at this time, if I understand right....

Oh, really? Man, that sucks... :(

I had "heard" that perhaps we can use maps made by other users (like Marla Singer's map maybe?), because some maps made by users apparently do start you in the correct places. (1) Does anyone know if this is true and (2) if so which map(s) would you recommend downloading?

By the way, I tried downloading Marla Singer's map from http://www.civ3.com but it doesn't seem to work. I placed it in my Scenarios folder like the instructions said but when I tried playing it, I got this message:

Scenario Version Invalid!

Invalid scenario version. Version 3.08 is no longer compatible.

By any chance does anyone know what this means? I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks! :)
