I'm happy with the plan. I also see no reason for going on the hill it will help having it for prodution later.

I was going by Wacken's advice. He has amazing starts and his team always finishes first (or near first) in the SGOTM's. His philosophy is food at all costs. settling on turn 2 is basically losing 3 food, 2 shields, and 2 gold.

Speaking of Philosophy.... Writing @ 100% seems best to get that run. Although a detour to get the great library would be nice with 4 other teams to do our research until education.

You have to meet the teams first;)

I guess we should get ourselves organised with the threads.

I think if the other teams are realistic, they won't try the philo singshot. So, let's go max writing first...then maybe we met some others and can see the direction they went

Korea ( The Council) will likely aim for it too. Although if they were smart they'd go for the Great Library to make the most of their SCI and COM traits.

I also advocate food before any other resource, that was why I would like us to make every effort to settle with food bonus tiles within city limits. BTW, I was part of team Wacken... ;) So I would guess my ideas stem from what we learnt as a team in those SGOTMs... Unfortunately we only won one or two games, most games we ended up 2nd or so, after Klarius and his crowd. But we always had the strongest starting games.

that's a sizeable risk (moving the settler) if Rik has decided to give us all slow starts.

once an initial path is decided upon, I've started a thread for the first set of turns here

Well, darn it! For the first day since we began this, I didn't check our team forum early because nothing was happening, so I missed the MSN chat. I should have known.

Looks like an interesting start. I'm excited that we're ready to begin!!! :D

Is it against the rules to move the worker N then take a screenie and get out of the game?

it seems as though that is what we are waiting to decide upon. I could do that during lunch if appropriate. I'll PM the Admins and ask them to respond to this question. I don't think that anyone has any objections to moving the worker to the BG on the river due north 1 tile.

What I would prefer you do is move the worker N, take the screenshot, and leave the game open in that state. Obviously I don't know how feasible this is for you (this is what we did in the ISDG, take screenshots and leave it open), as technically that would be an irreversible action. Can you do this?

yeah I can leave it open indefinately

EDIT:: could I get confirmation from a few people that moving the worker N is cool?:please:

Go for it then, I will be online and available for a discussion for at least another 6 hours or so (on CET so 4PM here now) It is a good thing the game starts this week when I guess most players on the team are off from work or school or whatever. We can hopefully get a very good start with loads of discussions.

well.. it appears as though we are going to be ok. :D

now to me waiting 10 turns before being able to access that cow is ok. It appears to be jungle on the other side of the NW river so I would argue settling in place is absolutely the best option.

thoughts? I have the game open here at work on a spare laptop and can finish the turn whenever we decide. I could also play the turn tomorrow AM if a decision can't be reached by 2:30 pm EST today

EDIT:: moved to the turns thread

since this has started to actually be playing I'm posting this in the turns 1-20 thread. lets all go over there
