Anyone else play it on the Steam Deck version yet? It works pretty well, even in the modern era, on the Steam Deck. However, the UI is even worse. Resource allocation is a nightmare trying to figure out. Resources don't tell you what they provide so you better have it memorized. Narrator's choice and goodie huts gives you the options but doesn't actually tell you what the specific benefits are so you have to guess.

Played it briefly. I did see the narrative choice benefits in those screens. Did you select handheld or something like that in the main menu?

I made my own controls that utilise the trackpads, simulating a mouse. Way faster and more natural.
Oh can you share your settings for that? It's one thing that annoys me is how if I want to move my selected tile across the map, it takes so long. The Steam Deck's trackpad is underutilized in so many games for it.

It's available in the Community Layouts tab, "Doolar's Civ VII Track Pad Layout". I will update it further, but it gets the job done now. I also change the handheld mode to computer/laptop mode in CivVII settings.

I've really warmed to how well it runs on Deck, and being able to take Civ anywhere with it has proven to be a dangerous combination. A problem I have, albeit a specific one, is that when I have 3 promotions with the Roman Legatus and thus the ability to found a settlement, it pushes some of the other unit commands (such as rest) off screen. I do wish there was a 'Compact UI' mode or something, but well, that's the least of the UI issues right now and I don't want to beat a dead horse to death...
