Steam/game locks when loading civ v

Hi

I know this is not steam tech but you people will answer in a much faster time frame than they will and It might not be a Steam issue in the first place. This issue stops my game from loading and says:

"Updating Sid Meier's Civilization V"
"Ready to play in approximately: 0 Seconds"
The bars that fill the next line are all filled already.

Anyone have this experience?

Had to re-install civ to get rid of the problem what ever it was.

I got a message that Steam needed to convert my Civ 5 files to a new structure. That update failed, and Steam informed me that it was installing Civ 5. The install failed because of a missing configuration. Guess I'll have to wait for Steam to unbugger itself.
 
Yeah at first my prob,. I thought was due to an upgrade or something from steam/civ v, and that is why I posted here thinking someone might be having the same prob. But no one gave that response... So I reinstalled, which has fixed it fine.

Yours might not work out any different. Maybe give it an hour of time then try something else.

Reinstall is last resort as far as I am concerned..:rolleyes:

Unfortunately Steam is not letting me reinstall Civ 5. Maybe I need to wipe it out first.
 
Steam told me that it was going to optimize my civ 5 files then said there was and configuration error now will not re install or any thing
 
May be working properly now, at leasr Steam let me start the install. I had to leave for work before it comleted so I cant say for certian that the problem is solved.

Looks like the problem was resolved. I was able to reinstall CiV
 
I have sent to the Steam Support about this issue. I hope that I get their answer as soon as possible. I will report back after getting their reply.

I have not yet received reply from Steam Support. Does someone else have this problem with starting the game?

I haven't yet received their reply, but it seems that the issue is now resolved after update of the Steam Client. To be on the safe side, I re-installed the game (by deleting the local content and re-downloading it) as well.

Now it seems that the problem is solved.
