Steam Pros, Cons & FAQ.[Please try not to start a discussion]

@Dale: Updated. Btw, Settlers 7? I lost track of that series when it got to number four :p

@CivFanMUC:

About the retail DVD: I'd add that as a pro for DVD's if that was the list I was making. Perhaps I should add to the Steam list that you don't need to use DVD's?

About the DRM point: The fact that you won't get other weird DRM's are obviously a pro in my mind. How to weight it, I leave up to anyone reading the list. DRM itself is in the Con-list.

Depends on the intention of the list, and what it is supposed to suggerate.
Pros&Cons of Steam compared to what?
compared to "no Steam"? Then I'd leave this point out as a whole
compared to EA/Spore's only 5 activations-DRM? Then you can put it in as a point.

But IMHO the list should compare "no Steam" (as in Civ IV) to "steam" and therefore it's not a "pro"

Same here ;) But that DRM itself is in the Con-list is good :goodjob:

Can you download an unlimited amount of times from all digital distributors? Unless you can, I think I'll keep the point. It's a thing that's good to know, I think. I wouldn't be sure it worked like this if I hadn't tried Steam myself.

One big downside of all forced Regestrations is that you have big problems to resell it especial if you have more then one game linked to one Account.
DRM is always a Con for me no mather what kind of Software. (And Steam as other Digital DOwnload Stores dont prefent that the Software have aditional DRM beside theyr own so its never a PRO for the customer to have a DRM with the Shop already)
