Trying to read comments in the AARs to see what we can do better.

Definitely need to change up the mementos. Thanks to @Manpanzee and @GoblinMatron for pointing out the overuse of Imago Mundi.

Wondering if doing two difficulty levels for each game in future would make sense - maybe Viceroy/Immortal & Sovereign/Deity rotation every other month?

Please keep in mind I'm just a fan and haven't participated yet. I need to use this patch to turn off the work legacy path. I am in awe of you guys seriously.

I think you should post winners or top three either here or in the hall of fame and delete my stupid post there about why is this forum here.

I love that there are difficulty choices, but I don't know if I would participate if deity wasn't offered as a choice.

I find the games more interesting the more constrained they are, so not as much loving "pick a civ" on certain ages.

Again, I'm just a nobody around here (so far) that likes reading the stories.

posting multiple starting saves will be great for both veteran and newer players. Judging by the latest submissions it seems a larger percentage of regular GOTM players prefer Deity. The current AI is just not challenging enough even at Deity. Please always post a Deity save for each future GOTM. Thanks.

This is the most frustrating part of Civ 7 to me. All the videos said it would be more challenging. Hoping they create a "Primordial" difficulty that is significantly tougher throughout the ages - one problem with Civ 6 is you started behind and then could run away with it.

I agree that Deity is not challenging enough, but that is why I like the gotms so much: it does not matter. In the gotms I play against other players, the game difficulty is more like the parkour.

I imagine it like a race track: some tracks have few curves and are "easy" to drive, some ar harder. But that does not make it easier to win the first track than the second one, it only shifts the focus.

So I like any difficulty for the gotms. But I don't like it when there are different difficulties presented, because then, part of the players are playing a different game than me that I can only partly compare to my game.

I prefer Deity but I would still play both saves (Deity + Sovereign) if the maps were different, for that exact reason.

I think I already posted an opinion somewhere, but agree with the comments about difficulty, its the other players not the game. In fact I actually enjoy all difficulty levels, and there may be some players that are daunted by Deity and they should be able to play too.

I also agree that 2 difficulty levels in one game kind of splits the players, and there is not tooo many of us.

On the fastest Modern discussion, I really don't like it, makes me play the previous ages in a counterintuitive way and takes forever as you want to stretch those ages as far as you can. I like fastest total turns and don't mind total legacies, as it is very similar.

@MutilationWave, there used to be a viable Hall of Fame, that's really where I started playing in this site not GoTM. Back then patches were rare and the game was more stable and you could compare performance across time, we had stuff there like Isabella/Continents/Standard/Standard/Science and the fastest run on that set up using player generated maps would go into the HoF, I remember when getting a sub 100 science victory win was a thing. These days it does not make sense as the game changes constantly, every month sometimes every 15 days. I wish there was a way to bring HoF back, I enjoyed that a lot, and because the players submitted ALL turns of the speed run, you could see exactly what they had done, so it was an amazing learning tool. Discussions looked very much like that thread where @Manpanzee and @Salamis are fooling around with peaceful science fast runs, lots of fun and lots of learning and the results "withstood the test of time". Now, the next patch just makes everything obsolete.

The directory is still there I guess in hope that at some point Fireaxis will release a Hall of Fame mode, where the mechanics do not change and you can compare games. Unlikely, I think.

Hopefully the rate of patches will slow down or at least the changes won't have as wide an impact. I'm often late on the GOTM and this month again it looks like a patch will really change the dynamic by having non-sudden end of ages.

I wish I had known about all that back in the day. I've played every game but especially 3, 6, and now 7.

Can we not just all trust each other to be real and not cheat? I'm automatically trusting, which has not always been to my benefit, but I'm not changing that.

It's not about trust, I don't think anybody cares enough to cheat, we are all playing here because we want to and it is fun. And learning. The problem is the game changing massively every patch. How can I submit a record Isabella game where she had capabilities 4 weeks ago that no longer exist.

Yes I played every Civ game too, but only really discovered this site and started playing in HoF and GoTM around the time Brave New World came out for Civ 5. I truly loved it. I encourage you to submit your game, it really is so much fun.

Hey thanks for the encouragement! Dealing with a lot of work and other things. The only time I've really had to play was showing my friend how to play a little bit. I'd love to participate in the future. Meanwhile I read posts when I can.

Hopefully the rate of patches will slow down or at least the changes won't have as wide an impact. I'm often late on the GOTM and this month again it looks like a patch will really change the dynamic by having non-sudden end of ages.

The game can be set for impact level so still possible in the new patch to set it up the same as previous, but not sure what will happen to games that were already in progress or not started yet. I suspect something strange.

If playing in steam they have included a legacy branch that allows you to continue the game in the previous build. Its in name of the game in steam, right click properties legacy.
