Still no pre-dreadnought?

I was hoping they would have added something to bridge the frigate to battleship unit? Still looks silly having frigates sailing around industrial era.

In G&K they allowed Ironclads in Open Ocean, so they sort of encompass all the naval development between Steam Frigates and Pre-Dreadnoughts.

Problem is that Ironclads are "melee" units not ranged so you are still stuck with using frigates to bombard industrial age units and cities.

BTW my choice of a pre-dreadnought model would be the Mikasa. It is currently a memorial ship and the last pre-dreadnought in existence.

The mid-late 1800's was the golden age of the sailship. I believe the first dreadnought was built in 1906. So a pre-dreadnought would only fill a gap of about 40 at most. So I think the ironclad is good enough.

Imagine the Industrial Era to be covering the time about 1860-1870 and take the battle of Lissa as an example - sailing ships of the line against ironclads. As for myself, I'd like to see a Dreadnought ship before Battleship and a Galleon thrown in somewhere in the Renaissance, but I guess they would have very few turns to be acutally used before being upgraded or disbanded.
