Please share some strategies to take down the Indians. I have a lot of difficulty in games where they are far away and I can't get at them. They usually get a posse together and use MPP then they expand like hell and shoot up in culture.

Sure I can send a few nice ICBM or nukes to bring em down a notch but anything in the pre-modern era that can be done? How do you get the civs to isolate them and grind'em down? Thanks in advance.

I have rarely seen an Indian civ worth of the name.
In most of my games they get hammered early and I end up giving them free stuff in the hopes they can get back on their feet to annoy other civs.
Of course occasionally I was the one who beat on them, in which case they deserved everything they got.

You could always renegotiate peace for ludicrous amounts early in the game. Then get your own posse together and watch them get whittled down from afar as your allies do all the work.
As a bonus, all your allies will grow to love you more and more, even when you just sit at home and periodically make ridiculous demands of the Indians.

Me too for most of the time but I have seen them only once become the largest and powerfull civ that I never seen ever but I beat their ass by calling a alliance the World againts India.

For use the same strategy, Machi, just break all roads surrounding their capital for break all trades and call for a the ''world againts India''. If not possible simply call the Hell on Earth has the last solution.:mwaha:

In my last game, on regent level, the Indians were the Russians *****. :D

The Indians, Russians, English, and Greeks were all on one large continent together, with me (America), the French, and the Romans on another. By the time I met the other civs in like 1400 AD, India was down to like 3 cities, and so far behind in tech it wasnt funny. I basically had to keep them propped up the whole game. I was the most powerful civ, so I signed an MPP with them and sent over some units to make sure no one wiped them out, then proceeded to give them literally dozens of techs over the course of the game. Poor people didnt get democracy til like the 1800s when I finally got around to giving it to them. I also supplied them with all their resources. It was sad really heh. I felt like I was the US and they were some poor African nation or something.

Of course in one of my other games the Indians were a world power, and had like 250 mobile infantry in about 30 cities by 1950. So I guess it comes down to luck.
