Sealman, when you say displacement, I assume you are referring to weight of ship in tons. I have each displacement listed with first standard and then full. I have it listed right between the beam dimension and the speed.
Another note I forgot to add, the Iowa's had far superior firecontrol radar than the Yamato or Bismarck. Which would result in more accurately placed hits.
I also read someone's post about the turret exploding on the New Jersey while she was stationed off Beirut. Not correct. The USS New Jersey was stationed off Beirut in the early 1980s...either '83 or '84, but it did not have a turret explode. The USS Iowa was the battleship that had the #2 turret explode during a demonstration of the 16" guns. The real cause is still somewhat undecided, but I should note, part of the blame should go to the captain at the time.He was a "missile man", and did not appreciate the power of the big guns. He did not run drills or safety checks as much as he should have concerning the 16" guns. Too much to type about that inccident.
