Succesion Game #1: Classic Team

You played in timely fashion and finished fairly quick for a succession game.
I've almost lost all hope for MGE#1...and the Zulu game..and classic#2 is not exactly zipping along....maybe I am the kiss of death.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but ... Did't you start this latest addiction?

I vote:

to play: Germans (or Chinese)

enemies:

  1. Russians
  2. Egyptians
  3. Persians
  4. English
  5. Babylonian
  6. French (if we don't play as the Germans)
  7. Indians
    [/list=a]

Argh! Stay out of this game before it stalls and dies...

Just kidding, Smash.

Actually, If I recall correctly (it was a while ago), we had a pretty quick succession in the beginning of Classic #2 with Willem, Hakan, myself and you. Who knows where it went after that. I would be very happy if you would like to join our happy group here in a new game - perhaps to take the place of the missing Cedric. Love to have you!

I guess it may be too much to ask to play as the Americans.... Just thought I'd ask.

I played my turns in Classic 2 and sent them off to HellRaiser (I think??). I haven't seen any of HEIROPHANT's thoughtful postings lately so I assume that he has that particular game.

If I can just make a suggestion on what I think for the new game. Random Map (Large), Seven Civs (all Random), Emperor, and either Americans, Germans, or Romans. I know Classic 2 has the Germans but don't know where the hell that game is.

I don't like choosing the enemy civs because that is part of the magic of the game, finding out who and what you are facing. As for the map, I think if we get screwed, too bad for us. All of us are good enough for Emperor level (Some are much better than others!!!) and we can always use a little diversity. This game is so much more fun when you are losing. Andu's idea of seven people is about right. That way you get a better feel of what's going on, plus you get to play more

But we did pretty well with 15 so that'll work too.
I can start the new game on Saturday if everybody agrees to such. If this is O.K. with everybody, I'll start a new topic tommorow called Classic Team 1
Then the appropriate sign-ups and such can be made and more importantly, you can decide on the settings. I don't know about everybody else, but I think that we should probably not allow any new people to join this game, simply because of the bogging down process. This most certainly excludes Smash, because he is the guy always posting in reference to the location of the game

.
Anyway, let me know what you think.

Yes - I had forgotten that you had done yours flatlander and Hell-Raiser did his as well. While skipping SunTzu and HIEROPHANT I believe it's in the hands of goodbye_mr._bond.

I can see what HIEROPHANT's entry would have been:
"I ruled the world because I am a great player. No need to pass it on as I already won"

I'm fine if you would like to put together a new game, and emperor would be a good choice of levels.

I do think we need to see where Cedric stands on this. If we can't find him should we recruit someone or play with 6? Without Cedric, how will we ever go up against cities like Fiona Apple and Tori Amos?

That's kind of what I'm getting at. I always see those Egyptians, almost never the Spanish; and the Spanish always give me a harder time. And I almost always see the Greeks or the Carthaginians, and almost never see the English either! How about a compromise: Pick the Spanish and the English and randomize the others.

Large Map/Random Terrain/Emperor is fine by me; plus keep those Hordes Raging!

We seem to have two nominations: Americans and Germans. I would like to propose either Teddy "Bull Moose" Roosevelt of the Americans, or Frederick Barbarossa of the Germans.

I agree. And I'd like to nominate Smash as a replacement for Cedric who, thus far, appear to be missing in action.

"Thoughtful" is a polite way of putting it!

I second the nomination for Smash to replace the MIA Cecric.

I wanted to post here some of the highlights that I thought were particularly good from our game. I took some time yesterday and skimmed through the timelines (yeah, I was a little bored so I thought I'd do something entertaining)

Here's some of the things I really liked:

Hakan: The Arbela campaign and subsequent defense was well done giving the English its first foothold on the Persian continent.

Willem: Your Dover and Richmond constant buyback programs from the barbarians. Those barbs sure did like those cities.

Me: Will ANYONE move Dover?!?!? Finally putting the ghost of Kev IV to rest by moving that annoying little city.

TFall: I kept cracking up reading your report that involved about 12 government changes in 15 turns by the AI. Also the taking of Giza which was our first foe conquered.

Flatlander: Who could ever forget the "Water-fearing English" from your first timeline? That was funny stuff.

Cedric: Actually getting us off that dopey island. "We discover that wood floats".

Andu: Taking the world into your iron grip at the end with the masterful "Operation Overhorde"

I hope the next game has much the same!

I think it would be nicer if we next time put in some pics in our timelines. And with this I don't mean eight 10 MB screen shoots in every post. I mean small explanatory pictures. And once and a while a map.
