Excellent - that may look like too many, but inevitably over the course of the game people will come and go and be unavailable. I suggest we play 10 -15 years per player per turn, which'll take us 100 years per loop if everyone sticks around.

Now, if they don't check in soon I'll PM everyone to get over here - or get Lefty to do so in the interests of encouraging traffic in his precious forum :p

Hear now...the Preferences Of Hippo

<cowering in every corner of the spaceship>
<racous applause, banging of tables, spontaneous toasting>

Faction: Gaians
Map: Large, random, lots of fungus, lots of mountains, lots of cloud cover
Difficulty: Transcend/Thinker
Calories: maximum

Those prefs are fine. You can start. ;) :p
Except I always like less native life...of course, I don't play the Gaians usually, so that changes things I guess.

Sorry, I have been out of town for the past week. Those prefs seem fine to me. I will be odd knowing how the planet looks though. We will need a play order list though.

It's a joke spy.

But i'd agree that transcend would be a bit much...thinker or whatever's below that would be better.

Transend is not the hard once you get the hang of how the computer thinks. Any level is ok with me though. With the tree huggers, lots of fungus means a big army of no support mind worms early on. I find that just too easy to win with. If we go Gians try little native life for a chalange.

For me, the tech setup depends on the difficulty and faction. With the Gians it does not really matter one way or the other. If we play on thinker or transend it really helps to not go blind reaserch if you want to get early secret projects. Lower than think does not really matter though.

Can we also use Iron man? In theory we are not to restart anyway and I like the 100% score bonus modifier.

To be honest I can play any way you wish to. Right now in my personal game I am finish up a morganite game (on transend) where I am trying to win by conquest. Like I said I will try anything.:)

Honestly it's been a very long time since i've played SMAC...and whatever tactics I do remember would be adapted for the Hive (grow. get giant outdated military. attack. repeat) so don't kill me if I don't advance our empire terribly much

You just described our last game ;) Although our weapons weren't terrilbly out of date...

Since no one seems willing to start this game, I have taken the liberty of giving myself military dictatorship powers. This means that everyone who reads this message is hereby drafted to play my game. :D The prefrences are...

Faction: Gaians
Turn Length: 10 yrs
Random Map: Large Planet (2nd biggest), Smallest ocean coverage, average erosion and cloud cover, rare native life forms (this should keep the game more competitive as there will be less mindworms to capture)
Difficulty: Thinker (2nd highest)
Rules: Standard except for Iron Man selected and no blind research

If there are any objections please name them. Also if your still playing reply, the order of reply will be the order of the turns. If there is no objections I will try to start by Wed, or Thurs

Thank You

I am good with your settings Strategos. Put me down to play. Like I said earlier I have no internet at home right now so I will have to get the game at work, take it home to play, save from home, toake to work and upload there. THis will mean it will take me a full 24 hours (minimum) to do my leg.

I would prefer 20 year turns....but i'll play regardless.
However, email or pm me when it's my turn, please.

I would like to play, but I'll have SMAC only in a few days. Put me at the end of the list.
For the settings, I would prefer blind research but the rules are up to you Strategos.
