This is where I will report on the progress of my very first mod which is based on the world of Suikoden II.

Info on Game
Suikoden II is an RPG made by Konami. This is perhaps the best installment in the Suikoden series because of a great storyline and history. The game takes place around a large lake called Dunan Lake, with many forests and mountains. The City-State contains many principalities: the seat of the State Muse, South Window, diverse Two River, the mining area Tinto, learning center Greenhill and the honorable Knightdom of Matilda. The main enemy of the State is the Kingdom of Highland with which many wars and conflicts have originated.

Starting off as a young cadet in the Highland Youth Brigade you and your best friend Jowy are witness to the terrible massacre of your fellow cadets by the evil Luca Blight. You are forced to flee your home town and travel to the nearby City States of Jowston. Upon arriving you are immediately imprisoned by a group of mercenaries because you are from Highland. Eventually Luca Blight invades Jowston and you join up with the mercenaries in order to fight off Luca Blight. Along the way you must unite all of the city states under your banner and rid the City States of the menace that is Luca Blight.

This is a little preview of the world map:

I have not completed it yet because I am replaying it so I can get as much detail as I can onto the map. I have rough outlines for each of the 7 civilizations and am currently changing the civilopedia for the mod. There will be more updates in the future. Hope you find this informative. :D

I'm interested, but I'm short on time and not all that familliar with the Suikoden series. If you could maybe post some pics of various faction leaders, I'll see about whupping up some Leaderheads for you.

Here's Lady Anabelle, the Mayor of Muse:

Lady Teresa Wisemail of Greenhill, one of the centers of learning in the Suikoden world and an extreme pacifist :thumbdown :

Lord Gorudo of the Knightdom of Matilda who cares about nothing other than himself:

Lord Granmeyer, a weak willed old man who runs at the first sign of danger:

Lord Gustav Pendragon who is a great leader and who also loves his one and only daughter Lilly Pendragon:

Prince Luca Blight, the ultimate bad guy. His sole purpose in Suikoden II is to destroy the City-State. Kinda reminds me of an even more evil Hitler:

Lord Makai of Two River where Humans, Kobolds and Winglies kinda get together:

So far I am working on static leaderheads, civilopedia entries and buildings. I am also almost done with the world map.

There's a lot of great graphics you can use here. It takes a bit of browsing through the graphics libraries in the Graphics forum, though.

I am at the end of Suikoden II and I will have the map finished either tomorrow or the next day! :D

I finally completed the map!! I had some problems such as scale and the placement of things. But I felt I did a good job.

Sweetness, I love Suikoden 2. If mountains are going to be unpassable you might want to make a pass into Tinto, or you could use LM Mountains for the surrounding area...

Luckily most of the units used in Suikoden could be found here...but you would need customs for the 108 stars...or at least the ones that fight.

Especially McDohl...with the Soul Eater...

Hate to double post, but this seemed deserving of a new post, I did a little thinking on the traits for each civ-

Muse- Agricultural, Expansionist
In game, the land of Muse contained many small farming villages, though the past siggests they've been interested in the land to the south, long disputed by them and the Scarlet Moon Empire.

Tinto- Industrious, Commercial
Tinto is full of miners and traders, and that's about it.

Greenhill- Scientific, ????
Greenhill is literally a college town, making it difficult to select a second trait.

Matilda- Militaristic, Industrious
Matilda is based around the Knighthood, and thus Militaristic fits perfectly. Their castle and borders are well defended too, massive walls having been constructed therein.

South Window- Commercial, Scientific
South Window holds Radat, the main trading post for Jowston and the Toran Republic (formerly the Scarlet Moon Empire). Also the home of the inventor, Adlai.

Highland- Militaristic, Religious
Highland is a massive military, coupled with almost cult-like devotion to the Beast Rune, complete with ritual sacrifice.

Two River- Industrious, ????
Two River is a diverse city that has recently learned to work together to stay on it's feet. Go them.

Seafaring doesn't really mean anything in such a land-locked map. Nearly every side except Highland has justification in being Commercial, but they can't all be now can they?

I was thinking that the ones that border Lake Dunan might use the seafaring trait (South Window, Two River and Muse) mainly because Highland is so hopeless when it comes to naval power.

I was also thinking that Highland could be expansionistic because of their wars, but I would suppose that would be covered in the militaristic trait.

There is that, it's just that naval warfare has almost no part in the game. It even had a bigger role in Suikoden 1, where you had the ice boats to assault the Floating Fortress.

But certainly if we can't think of anything else to use, Seafaring would work.

There's also a Suikoden I mod in the works, if you're interested. ;)

Since Hikaro Takayama hasn't responded in a while, you might have to make static leaderheads for now. Shouldn't be too much of a problem since a lot of the Conquests campaigns just use static leaderheads anyway.
