Suikoden III (PS2)

I did not keep my saves from Suikoden 1 or 2... :( How was I to know?!?!?!

Apparently accordingly to the article, the bonuses fr porting over your saved game aren't all that great. Otherwise all you guys who'd played the older games will have demigod-like characters.... ;)

The Jap ver of Suikoden III is already out....

US ver of Suikoden III is going to be out anyday now. IGN already has a review but it's locked to members only.

Got the game; played a bit. Lack of tutorials are confusing me but being a 'natural' (ahem!) got it all figured out somewhat. Not sure if I like it or what; opening theme and gameplay didn't really fill me it on what's afoot. Guess you'll have to have played the earlier games to appreciate it more. ;)

All I know is I'm meandering along to someplace called Grassland for some reason or what (played as Geddoe a bit before switching to Chris). Graphics are OK, cartoonish for the characters. The opening CG was mostly anime.

Will play more before next posting...

Spent 50+ hours on the game, fr Fri afternoon till Tue afternoon. That in itself is an indication of.... something. :) The game's a whole lot of fun. But have some irritating letdowns although manageable on the whole.

Have finished the 3 chapters each for Chris, Hugo and 2 for Thomas (the castle lord). Now in midst of 3rd chapter for Geddoe. Soon will be main story..... I think. :yeah:

Some grips about the game : -

Sometimes keep wandering around figuring how to get to a spot that'll 'trigger' the next 'scene' to move the story forward. Really have to pay close attention; otherwise might end up wandering for hours.

Limited backpack for party. Same limit for warehouse. How can it be a warehouse if it has a limit!!?? And the same with your team backpack!!??

Boring battles.... Can't use area effect spells much, cause will affect your own silly people who always run over and charge... Also nothing to resurrect fallen comrades in battle. At least, nothing I have found yet.

Otherwise the game's very enjoyable - particularly the story-driven concept. I also love the goods trading and the fun stuff you can eventually do at your castle. Also love the attention paid to small details like the constant wrangling betw Joker and Ace in Geddoe's team....

Almost at the end now, somewhere mid of chap 5. The warehouse limit is gone, so I can stash items to my heart's delight. :yeah: Also beginning to use spells effectively. My favourite is that pale gate one with the charging ghostknights. Really cool.

Favourite char is Viki - both of them. The elder one literally dropped out of the sky. The younger one is the the kid form of elder Viki, fr her earlier time I think. But she acts more matured. :) Plus they're my only ppl who can use my fave spell. :yeah: It was funny when they bumped into each other (elder Viki sneezed and the younger one appeared in her place).
