I've been playing a game as Gilgamesh. Four observations so far:
  1. The unique ability — Epic Quest — is terrific. I've gained a lot from knocking out barb camps.
  2. The War-Cart is a super strong early unit. Love the extra movement from flat land.
  3. I've found the Ziggurat nearly useless. I'd rather use land for other purposes. Anyone else see a good reason to build them?
  4. Because I try to play peacefully, I haven't really had a chance to use Gilgamesh's leader ability.

3. I found them very useful early on to get a few civics and techs for a jump start, then I removed few of them to replace with wonders or districts.

Ziggurats are good. I started on a mostly tundra continent, though, but +2 science and maybe 1 culture were great.
Gilgamesh's special ability seems totally lost on me. I can't see myself ever having an ai ally in this game because if you're not peaceful, everyone will hate you due to warmonger penalties, so you just can't have allies unless maybe you manage to get one from the start, but you don't have the civics for it. Gilgamesh might as well have no leader ability, it wouldn't change anything.
