Hey fellow civers!

We are about to start a great summer and I expect to see a lot of great scenarios posted here at Civfanatics soon...

Now would be a great time to list scenarios that you would to see updated and any comments that you have about some of your favorite scenarios that you would like to share.

Remember that authors frequent this forum so try to use positive feedback (e.g. this scenario would be better if it had...). Of course, you can always review a scenario by submitting a review to Civfanatics. (see review page for details).

I'd like to start by asking Kobayashi if he has any scenario plans in the future for an Enterprise scenario?

And, what does everyone think about scenarios based on movies-
Good idea or bad?

John

I am building a series of scenarios, concerning the wars of the Israeli history. I have examinations, though, so I won't finish it before July.
Then I am considering a Barbarossa scenario, a Colombian Civil War scenario, and to participate in the Scenario Design Contest.

I'm still trying to hold my breath until Stalingrad comes out!
But.....oxygen ... failing... fatal brain damage... starting.... :skull:

It's been a long time since any news...

They tend to be more like roleplaying games, and Civ2 is a strategy game, and a good one... It doesn't suit Civ2 to be transformed into role-playing.

Well well well... the danes beat the world champions today... so I guess anything can happen this summer! -so I might just actually be able to finish off some of my projects... then again, it seems I just enjoy taking it easy and doing the nifty details, so on the other hand, I might not. ;)

List of current projects :

* Huge Medieval Patch (which might be renamed to simply Medieval Patch, since the only huge thing about it is the map and the time span)... tech tree is finally nearing completion, just about all units and graphics are done, so it can't be far away

* Hammer of the North v2 (using the med patch tech tree and graphics) -featuring a cool new map, manhattan prj renamed "blood sacrifices" enabling the summoning of Thor the thundergod (viking nukes), and other cool stuff

* In Darkest Africa (quest style scen and mp race to the relief of Emin Pasha, trapped behind mahdist lines in central Africa)... all graphics done, tech tree remains since I decided to go with a full colonial tech tree... sort of in reverse ("we noticed your primitive civ hasn't even developed cannibalism... we desire the secret of gunpowder, exchange, no?") ;)

Other ideas :

* 1864 - a detailed tactical scen about the danish-prussian war of 1864... a very good subject for a fast 2 player mp game, I think

* Danish Pastry -a satirical scen about post-WWII Denmark, threatened by massive muslim hordes south of the border, and swedish tourists from the east, featuring nudist camps, EU referendums, and the once so proud danish navy reduced to a single vessel, the corvette Olfert Fischer...

* The Spanish Armada (Jesus Muñoz is already working on a promising scenario on the armada, but its a really exciting theme for a scenario)

* Tripods -a sci-fi scenario based on the books of John Christopher, with massive metallic machines taking over the earth, and turning human development into a medieval regress... the object would be to regain the lost knowledge of the ancients (meaning us)... and kick some alien butt. -already made a lot of graphics for this one, but somehow came to a halt along the way.

You're a genius, Morten! May I humbly ask to assist you in that glorious project?

It started as a joke between me and a friend of mine, because of the absurdity of all the pseudo-national-romantic misperceptions and misproportions of danish politics... could be really fun to try and twist that arm... Insurgent, maybe we should start a thread to brainstorm ideas, and I'll invite my friend to join us... It doesn't have to be a biggie this one. :)

I was very inspired by a wacky scenario called American Civil War II, which was quite comical, somewhat playable, but way too much of a nukefest... (and a little too big). I imagine this one should be a little sweeter, with lots of colourful, pictoresque units and graphics... "typical" danish in the self-righteous red/white kind of way.

agreed

Hey Morten,

This scenario was not by any chance by "Nero" was it? And if so, do you mind giving the link to download or send it to me?

I'd appreciate it! I've also been looking for the "Spoof" modpack as well.

LotR scenarios rule!!
And instead of movie-based scens, how about scen-based movies?:rotfl:

Yep, thats the one. Sure, I can send it to you, just send me your adress, and I'll send the zip right over. Don't remember who I got it off, but it was someone on this forum.

Insurgent, I'll get back to you on the "danish" project when I get more time... pretty busy these weeks, working for the medieval festival next week here in Odense, among other things :)

What, swedish tourists but no germans?
As I recall you have a lot of those as well ;) (and I do mean A lot).

Sounds like a fun idea for a scenario otherwise though :goodjob:

Oh and btw, morten it's your turn in AoW :p

What are some of the most popular tourist sites in Denmark anyway...it seems like a geographically isolated nation...how long would it take to tour the country?

This might play into the scenario...

John

I was thinking along very stereotypical lines... all those south of the border more or less muslim immigrants or eurofanatics, and those to the east tolerated as 'tourists' ;) one could include an event sometime in the 60'es where the german campers begin to flood in along the west coast of Jutland and buy up real estate...

Popular tourist sites? Hmmmm.... thats what so strange... there's hardly any. There might be some old-europe atmosphere, some viking ships and a couple of rune stones, and of course, tivoli and the little mermaid -which is, precisely as it says, little-, apparently some people get disappointed when they see how small she is... but how can that surprise anyone? -it even says in the name

and the once so proud danish navy reduced to a single vessel, the corvette Olfert Fischer...

What does 'Olfert Fischer" mean...a fishing boat? (sorry, I'm not schooled in your culture, please tolerate me.)

Then why do Germans and Swedes love to go to Denmark? Is it that the Danish people are so nice and friendly? And they have free campgrounds that people can stay overnight by the ocean?Perhaps I should go there someday :)

Of course, you said German campers could be in the scenario to buy up real estate...the campers could be like a settler unit...you could make the German towns little tents...

Hmmm... Supposedly some naval admiral I think. This site has more info :)

[edit : hmmm... sorry, this site seems to be in danish only, I haven't been able to find a bio in english... but he was the admiral in charge during the battle in Copenhagen vs Admiral Nelson and the english fleet, where the danes lost their entire navy... It was during the napoleonic wars, AFAIK]

Some info on danish naval history in general, with pictures of the corvettes of the navy etc. and a 'funny' example of danish naval grandeur ;) -a missile on the loose over a summer residential area...

Well, it IS a nice country during the summer time, and occasionally during the winter too, if its not too dull and rainy. But also very expensive, but less so than Sweden and Norway in particular. Liquor and beer is widely available, which has traditionally (pre-EU) been the reason for the swedes to come here... As for the germans, they're probably just plain crazy. :D
