Prince difficulty on pangea.
I notice I start in the interior of mountain range filled to the brim with grasslands and plains+jungle and rivers.
Mongols sit up north of me, I play as germans as usual.
They're just sitting at the end of mountain range, wanting IN!
Boy oh boy, never before in the whole months of playing civ 5 I had alot of battles and butthurt leaders in ancient-classical-medieval era.
And my mountain range have zero Iron. Yes that's right, zero iron. XD
Me and Mongols went at it with angry warriors and brutes and archers and horseman and spearman and pikeman and even chariot archers were sighted.
They move their great generals bit better this time around. So there was plenty of two military forces heading at each other with a great general accompanying them.
To illustrate how awesome it was, I actually got a warrior up to lvl 4 for the first time with march promo. dude.
So i managed to secure five sources of iron from russia. for silks, oh yeah my place is really really abundant in silk. xD and horses is reasonably common somewhat. They're currently longswordmen. And they have fought in alot of battles suffering a -50% Strategic resource penalty. Yes, russia keep on backstabbing me repeatedly xD.
The strategic penalty isn't that bad if you're careful with your iron shortage by using them carefully and taking advantage of great general, disclipine, flanking, can be enough to wipe out the penalty from -50% to -10% or 0%.
Excessive amounts of jungles in your home terrain sure negates the advantage of chu no kus of china xD
But still, it was so awesome, no iron at all lol. And my foes had no iron too. xD

Russia, China does, the darned far northerners have iron xD
Oh... I haven't mentioned it yet.. but city states is being taken at rapid pace, alot of them falling to someone I don't know yet. But I suspect Persia is one of them, and maybe a unmet civ too.
Me and Persia has gotten into wars over city states repeatedly.
I spot a friendly cultural city state it requests me to kill 4 units and I'm not allied at all. I feel the lure.
Spot it 1k gold to gain allied status. Proceed to declare open war on Persia.
Persia now cannot sign peace with the city state it was bullying!
My Men slam into persian troops and kick them out of city state lands enough to make the city state happy. Win extra rep! Construct extra troops especially Landsknechts and send them to city states being hit by persians everywhere xD. Gift them too.
Russians did a successful hail mary shot.
Travel her troops in classical era through incredible amount of hostile territory.
Attack Ectabana and successfully punished Persian Aggressors by taking it!
She did it with warriors and pikeman and archers etc. Swordmen were present as well but in small quantities.
I am impressed and surprised. Coz thats in far southern reaches of the pangea near my lands. Still barbs rampaging there too.
So like, anyone else has experienced same thing as I do?
