Yeah this may sound like a weird idea, but even though I like Brawl better I kinda want to playthrough the GameCube's original killer app. Hey, it DID still place #17 on IGN's Readers' Choice Top 100. Also Melee was my first videogame.
Another reason is that I am now more familiar with many of the games that Melee takes content from. I own Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time, and I've payed Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Super Metroid. Once I've completed those games (along with Super Mario Bros. 3 and Yoshi's Island, which will be a LONG while), I'm thinking of revisiting Melee. So here's the plan if I ever do so. Just thinking it up was fun. So I'll erase my Melee data and start over.
1. Clear Event Matches 1-30.
Well, one of the event matches (the one where you fight the Kirby Hats), gets harder as you unlock more characters. So I'm thinking of fighting out the first 30 event matches to see myself fighting only 14 Kirbys for that event (I still remember once where I charged into that event with every character unlocked; THAT WAS BAD). In addition, I'll get a good laugh when Ganondorf is my first character unlocked.
2. Use the Vs. Mode Glitch

3. Complete Classic Mode with Mewtwo on Very Easy
This unlocks Pichu. Also since Mewtwo is very low on the tier list, I'll be taking the easy way out. I'll then complete Mewtwo's target test.
4. Complete Classic Mode with Mario on Easy
This unlocks Dr. Mario (who is a tad bit better than Mario IMO). Mario's target test follows.
5. Complete Adventure Mode with Fox on Very Easy
Fox will be my main man as he's currently at the top of the tier list. If I complete stage 1 of adventure mode with a 2 in the seconds place (xx:x2:xx) and kill Luigi and Peach on the next level within one minute, then unlock Luigi, so I'll be taking Very Easy and the easy way out. If I fail, I get Jigglypuff.
6. Complete 100-Man Melee
This unlocks Falco. Hopefully some well-placed reflectors on those pesky wire frames will do the trick.
7. Play some vs. matches using the original 14 characters.
This unlocks Marth.
8. Complete Classic with Marth on Normal.
This unlocks Roy. Also I've found myself to be fearsome with Marth in Brawl, and Marth is #2 on the current tier list for Melee, and I've never cleared classic on Normal before (I copied a friend's file). Marth's target test follows.
9. Complete Classic with 10 characters.
They will be in this order: Mewtwo, Mario, Marth, Link, Zelda (well, Sheik), Fox, Falco, Peach, Captain Falcon, and Jigglypuff. The first three will be cleared in the above steps. Link and Zelda go next, as they will be needed. The last five are in their order on the tier list (yes, that stupid tier list). Link will unlock Jigglypuff, and Jigglypuff will unlock Young Link. That should be interesting, seeing as I've never seen somebody use Jigglypuff to unlock Young Link. All those characters' target tests will be cleared afterwards.
10. Clear Classic and Target Test with Every Other Character
It looks like Mr. Game and Watch with be the only character left after all of my efforts. So I'll just simply clear classic and target test with every other character, in order of tier. That means Pichu will be the first one taking a stab at Mr. Game and Watch. I wonder how that will go...
11. Clear All-Star Mode with Fox
Yeah, I'm going to clear all-star mode with my main man. After unlocking all the characters I'm pretty much going to be in a mad dash to unlock all the stages, and this step will unlock Battlefield. I'm going to do this on Easy or Normal, depending on how well I did previously.
12. Clear Classic with Mr. Game and Watch
This unlocks Flat Zone. Completing his targest test afterwards will unlock Dream Land.
13. Hit over 400m in the Home-Run Contest using Yoshi.
This unlocks Yoshi's Island.
14. Clear 15-Minute Melee
This unlocks Congo Jungle. I'll probably use Fox and his reflectors.
15. Clear Event Mode
This unlocks Final Destination.
16. Play 200 Vs. Matches
This unlocks every other stage, assuming I got the Birdo trophy. Techincally I'll have already played a few vs. matches (probably 11).
