did anyone ever get a working supply system working that wasn't more cumbersome than fun and that the AI had a chance to use well?
My thoughts would be to give a 1 sq. cultureal border to a unit...a Supply Unit...and most (90% w/ the exception of things like Ranger units that can live off the land) units have to stay within X distance of your cultural border <the supply> or perish (or return to your capital at min. health depending on how bloodthirsty you are) before air power, if you wanted to get snazy you'd need a train of these supply units in a line, destory one and the whole column returns to go do not collect 200 dollars.
Player vrs. Player it'd be great, so you could sneak through a swamp to attack or over the mountains, and he'd have to watch his entire border, not just the obvious route...which would make partiasan & ranger units important to snipe the suppy down or fast calvary makign an end run itno the chain at a weak link. Player vrs. AI, it'd just probably end up tedious since you'd always know which way they'll attack
