Moderator Action: *snip* not appropriate for this forum. But I'm not really experienced in videogames in general and so I'm probably here with the silliest question ever:

Is Civ 5 a "standalone" version, or is Civ V first version needed?

Gods and Kings is an expansion pack, so you need to buy Civilization 5 first. I would suggest downloading Steam and checking periodically for sales between now and June 19 so you can save some money.
