The latest level I was playing is prince, I won one game there. Tried the next one but it was to hard for me.

Maybe this would have been better as a poll :D

Anyway been playing Prince, won the first game easy, in the lead on the 2nd - however even though I feel confident that moving up to Monarch wouldn't be too hard, I know my weaknesses so I want to work on them before I do.... I neglect my military too much :(

Still playing on Noble here. Just using it as a training level really until I've mastered the tech chain and religeon and stuff.

I'm still playing Noble. I'd rather be able to win 95-99% of games played before moving up than just winning a couple and losing some too. In my last game, when I first started it, I was thinking that this would be my last game on Noble before moving up, however the game threw a spanner in the works and I got my arse handed to me by Alexander and Frederick. :(
I think a few more games and hopefully move on up.

Playing on noble as I still haven't figured out a few things. No ones attacked me yet but I wiped out Japan.

i won two out of two games on prince (cultural and space race), but now i stick to noble to get my warmongering and diplomatic skills trained ;)

Victoria handed me mine :) , in a fit of rage I uninstalled the game, but then I installed it again. I don't think I'll play higher then noble with all the bonuses the AI gets - the only bonus it really needs is my own stupidity and theres plenty of that on noble

LOL@the plenty of stupidity at noble comment. Yeah, I know what you mean. I am doing that too. But look, I dont think there is a better feeling than beating the game at a higher level where you know the A.I does have bonuses over you and you still kicked it arse. It also makes the game more of a challenge, especially when the lower levels are just not challenging anymore. If you didnt move up, the game will become boring.

I usually play a level until I win once. Then I move up. I'm playing Monarch now, and it seems I'm winning. Got a defensive pact with and the same religion as both the remaining civs on my continent, a tech lead over everyone (at least 15 turns ago someone had a tech I didn't have, makes trading kind of boring though).

I kind of raced through a lot of technologies, so some cities are still building banks or marketplaces while they should have finished a observatory already, but I hope building a factory first will change that now I have the possibility.

The cities that have most or all buildings will be pumping out Infantry or better soon, hopefully not too late to give one of the heithens the bad idea there's something to get, since my alliance will whoop him in a whim :goodjob:

I guess this thread could have been a poll, but it's nice to hear how people are moving up the ranks, there are lessons to be learned about that.

I'm playing any standard games on Immortal, but I've been trying a number of fun variants on Monarch or Emperor.

I started on Monarch and still play it, since I can't win every game.

It seems balanced and fun, compared to Emperor+ which just make me angry.

Emperor for the most part, though I drop to monarch to have fun with strategies other people post (one-city challenge, Praetorian rush, etc).

I'm finishing up what is probably my last Warlord game. I started at Settler (no confidence in my own abilities  ) and played one game at Chieftain (or whatever level 2 is). My next game, which I plan on documenting, is going to be on Noble. Hopefully another warmongerish game, which is what I'm doing now.

Noble

18 Civs
Max size
Lake Map
no Space Victory

One Score Win, other Game still going.

My computer would implode after I got everyone's maps on that!!

Noble
and I think for quite a while I´ll continue playing this level most of the time.

Maybe I could beat the AI, too, at higher levels,
but, as dabrovo mentioned,
the noble level seems to be the most balanced
regarding the bonuses the AI and you get
and I play the game just for fun,
not because I want to prove that I can beat the AI
even if it gets bonuses.

Maybe I´ll think different some time in the near or far future,
but at the moment being at noble level
and just varying things like random map scripts, map size
and/or number of civs is enough to keep me interested
(after all I also don´t have too much time to play civ,
which means that games on large/huge maps
can sometimes last a week or longer ;) )

I'm playing noble and winning most of my games. The only consistent way to win games for me, though, is to be a warmonger with the Roman Praetorian. I'm trying to get a peaceful win in Noble before moving up to Prince.

After having beaten Immortal on standard map 8 civs, I moved to Deity, but without any success yet. Maybe, it's because I want to win on small map at least (with space ship of course - I hate conquest/domination victories).

Funny thing that so many people play on Noble. Never tried this one as I started from Prince, won once and moved higher for more challenge. I believe Noble must be f***** easy :D That's no fun when you can do with the AI whatever you want...

I play on Immortal, and only trying to win by domination. (won all the time on emperor, but dont know about immortal yet.)
