Svartalfar Mod

I'm not an expert on mounted warfare throughout history, but I get a feeling that a swordwielding mounted unit is more like a Dragoon, i.e. it uses the horse to carry itself to battle, where it dismounts and fights on foot. Whereas a spear, javelin, pike, pole or lance would be a better weapon while mounted for the range.
 
Are you gonna update to the newest Ffh version? I really liked your Mod-Mond but I cant play it with the new version....:confused:
 
..like to see your Game Balance changes updated to this mod version. I'm a big fan of wonderous diversity, and would like the chance to use your new terraforming units and see the Lich-king come around.

Is this possible, with the most recent version of FFH?

swords for mounted warfare is a very viable way of fighting. It was used through the ages. without the need to dismount and fight on foot. key was the design of the sword (sabers and the like for quick and easy cutting) and to never stand still. pole weapens have a tendency of breaking after the first contact. after wich fighting with the sword began.

everything except the sentry forts should be possible, i try to add anything specific people suggest, i'll see about the terraforming units next :)
 
That would be great, Sureshot! Thanks for listening....makes me want to post a priority list of all the things from the first page I'd like to see brought forward to this version...but I won't do that to you. Just be assured that pretty much everything from the General & Balance set (especially rendering the other concealed factions playable and the Barbarian/building/unit additions) and the Terraforming units would be much-cherished additions to this most recent version of your mod.:thanx:
 
With turnaround times like these, we are all surely to turn into spoiled, whining brats with an intense and compelling sense of entitlement.:cry:

I'll try the Lanun after one more Dark Elves game. But first I gotta finish this one. On Oasis map one of settlements was build next to a one tile lake and I pleasantly surprised to build a fishing boats there. I always thought Civ4 water tiles needed something more.

normally you do, but i added a special work boat you could build anywhere heh
 
I can't wait... I'm gonna play the Lanun now since I like their roleplay but the farming restriction was kinda rough and the extra food of water didn't help as much as the loss of production hurt. Though the commerce was cool but that was an early boon only. For me anyway. I'm looking forward to playing them with these changes.

I'm off to play.....


Ohh hey, it might be cool to post the 22 updates in the OP?

not sure about the barbarian units. ive found the AC counter encounters to fulfill that role better.
 
Any reason not to do both? I may be alone here, but the more things that are going wrong with my game, the more I enjoy the challenge. I won't play with anything but Rampaging Barbarians....they're just so cute when they get all rampage-y like that.

Needless to say, I'll bow to your superior experience if you really think it's a bad idea....you surely know more about game balance than I do.:)
 
I know I'm being nothing but a pest, now, but I'd also like to see that new hero of yours, "Rith". Any chance he/she can be put into a new patch, even if the Barbarian units can't go back in?
