So I discovered this by accident when I wanted to copy my save file from my desktop to my laptop. When I went to copy it, I noticed it was in my Onedrive so then went to see why my laptop couldn’t pick it up from my Onedrive.

Anyway, it seems Steam uses the “My Games” folder within “My Documents” to store save files. If you are fine putting your “My Documents” folder into your Onedrive, read on…

If you right click on your “My Documents” folder and select properties, there’s a “Location” option in the top right. Click that and you can then “Move” your “My Documents” folder to your Onedrive.

Do this on your desktop AND laptop and your saves will be in sync as long as Onedrive is in sync.

(This also works across Mac’s using Onedrive via Bootcamp - that’s how I’m set up).
