They are weird!!

I needed to get used to it, but now that I am, they're great! :yeah:

They were at Pinkpop where me and my girlfriend were last time. They gave a great show too, but my parents recorded and thought they were just being silly.

But I wonder what you think of System Of A Down...

I don't bring down other people's music but I have little time for nu-metal pop like System of Down's Syndrome...

All nail polish and no substance...

As it is said in the poll...
You call THAT music ?
Well, it's not to the point of Pantera, but basically it's someone screaming as if he got his fingertoes broken, while his friend try to do as much sound as possible by pretending playing.

Well, it's perhaps "noise", but certainly not "music".

System of a Down is alright. I voted for the third option. They aren't that great of a band. They'll probably out in a few months like all the other rock bands that become big for a year and are then forgotten after 2-3 music videos.

I needed to get used to it, but that is very good music. Not many modern bands sing harmony like System of a Down does, and I would agree with their political statement except for the hypocritical fact that nothing similar appears on their second CD. It would seem they got less interested in overthrowing the system after it made them rich.

That just about sums it up.

Well, I don't agree with you on the complaint you have with the vocals, but I do agree about the guitar work. What passes for guitar playing in music these days is simply inferior to what it ought to be.

What kind of a dumb @$$ name is that. Sorry, I avoid modern rock like th plague I think it is. You do what you want though.

I love System of a Down, but some of their songs are just noise. Some bands can pull that off like Slipknot, but he actually has a voice for melody. I don't mean soft songs: Spiders has melody, ChopSuey has melody, Ariens has melody. But stop with the senseless acts of thrashing and call it a complete song. Leave it to other bands with a less talented singer.

The abouve quote shows a pitiful lack of understanding.

I have heard this lame crud so many times...

Metal is all about extreme sound, same as Jazz is all about expression.
For your information, Pantera can play, the have some brilliant musicians in their ranks.

Your so-called opinion, is merely based on recycled media views.

The way you state (as if you know something about it) that metal is not music,
Makes me laugh at you so much.

If you stand and watch a metal band like Rage or Primal Fear,
you will see guitar playing that will roast your hair off.

Just becuase muscians play in a style you do not like,
does this give you a right to write off a whole genre with a ridiculous sweeping generalisation?

Not a chance.

Please get a clue before you offend other people's lifestyles.

PS

I am defending real metal here (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Euro Power Metal)

I couldn't give a damn about A-Down or nu-pop-metal.

Pity there are such closed minds on the fora....

1) I don't care to offend. I'm not for politically correct. If I think something is trash, I say it's trash, and if you're sensitive enough to be hurt because some guy some thousands kilometers away think your favorite musisc is trash, then you obviously need to wonder about yourself rather about me.

2) I've listened to several music of Pantera, System of a Down, Cradle of Filth, Sepultura and so on, so my opinion does not come from media, thank you. Some of them were actual (bad) songs, but many are just screaming without any melody over noise. If you like this noise it's your right, but don't make me laugh by calling it "music". Music require melody, tempo and harmony (even extreme music).

3) AFAIK, I did not trash the whole metal style. After all, Rhapsody is my favourite band, and they are supposed to be part of the metal world. There is also some other metal bands that I like, and even many much more that I don't like, but that have a recognizable attempt to making real music (regardless of the fact that I like it or not). The ones I talk about in my second paragraph can only remotely be thought to try any "music" at all.

I'm afraid I'm too old for nu-metal :( I just can't be bothered to listen to it, even though I love metal :(

Now, in the 80's we had some real metal band... :mwaha:

I think you have me all wrong, I like quality, hence why I can't stand nu-pop-metal...
The fact that you like Rhapsody is a point in your favour,

Nothing you could say would even come close to hurting my feelings, so don't get too bullish, old chap.
Takes more than a paragraph of text to hurt a man such as I.
But even if you are some guy who is 1000km away or 1000 centimetres away,
you should know that I will treat a fool as a fool...

If you claim to like symphonic metal (as I do) like Rhapsody,
then why the heck do you make comment about pantera et al?
Surely you must know that these bands DO play, even if it is not with much imagination...or to your 'fine' tastes.

To write all metal off as noise, just cheapens your attempts at being the cultured music gourmet...
And shows your lack of understanding of the genre.
I have been into this sound since the mid-1980's and know that it takes all types of music to make the world diverse...

Kindly peddle your flawed musical mein kampf elsewhere...

Open minds will prevail...good night.

they reminds me of refused but are so much worse. there are better music and metal out there.

Errr... Obviously, because Rhapsody do good music and Pantera et al do not ?

You question is a bit like "If you claim to like music, then why the heck do you make comment about about people who make bad music ?". Don't get it. I can dislike "Pantera et al" without disliking the whole metal world.

I suppose you stopped to read my previous post halfway, so I'll quote it and put in bold some critical sentences.
