There are still some techs with TBD text. (afaik)

Are they open to suggestions?

Suggestions would be most welcome. I'm happy to add some text into the pedia if it's good.

Suggestion for Genetic Biochem:
"God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs." Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jurassic Park)

It's not technically TBD, but I think this is much better than what's there (in my version anyway).

I'm sure there was a Tech Quotes thread, but it's playing hard to find...

@KaTiON_PT does pedia text review - he revised strategy text of civics, that is what is displayed when you unlock new civic and what is displayed in civics advisor.

This is a tech, and my suggestion was as a tech quote. I can see how that may not have been clear. Have they also been revised?

I meant in general revising missing text for techs, their quotes and strategy texts.

I believe that quote is already included in the game but once I get home I will check it.

@raxo2222 Do you believe that I'm still doing the building strategy text revisions? There are just so many! :crazyeye:

Not for buildings, just for techs, where text is missing.

@Yudishtira That quote is used by the recently introduced Chaos Theory technology. :)

I suggest this instead for Chaos Theory:
"Mathematicians believed that prediction was just a function of keeping track of things. If you knew enough, you could predict anything… Chaos theory throws it right out the window because in fact there are great categories of phenomena that are inherently unpredictable." Hobart A Burch (but coincidentally it is a paraphrase of another passage in Jurassic Park)

The Malcolm quote has nothing to do with Chaos Theory, and everything to do with playing God by genetic tinkering (Genetic Biochem). And please leave off the pathetic female-supremacist one-liner.

I was watching Man the Maker's recent Let's Play, and I saw some terrible prehistoric tech quotes. My mate Grod the Wiser actually lives in the prehistoric, and is famous there for his little "bon mots" as it were. He came up with these little gems:

Ground Stone:
"The ground was stone, but I ground it and it not stone no more." Grod, tribe Wiser.

Bone Working:
"Why I work bone? To make bone work for me." Grod, tribe Wiser.

Binding:
"Having discovered this skill, I vow to make it work for the tribe. You can consider this promise binding..." Grod, tribe Wiseguy and Punner.

Adhesives:
"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but do it better stuck together." Grod the Wiser.

This would require doing redoing the soundclips with a text-to-speech software and then record the sound.

*Groan* Please, please... if you're going to use text-to-speech software, have the results sanity-checked. For a free example of why this is necessary, listen to the current tech quote of Lead Working.

Also, if there is going to be any re-recording of these, the tech quote for Shamanism desperately needs correction. "Mediation" and "meditation" are not the same word! That one bothers both my wife and me every single time it plays.

If it were for me I'd remove all quote narration from the game, keeping only the beep sound.

There are also some technologies that have quote texts that are simply too large.

Zeppelins is one tech where the digitized speech has long bothered me and feels grossly out of place. I generally like the ones done by humans and would keep those, and let the rest be beeps until a human with a good voice wants to do them.
