If the Aretian Democratic Party is elected as the next PF I intend to play a short turn set Wednesday 29th at 10PM for me in Alaska (a.k.a. Thursday 30th 6 AM GMT). If we are not elected I hope this thread will be a convenient launching point for the next PF’s TC.

The main purpose of this TC will be to establish our new civics by researching Democracy and playing through 2 turns of anarchy.

By putting espionage back to zero and raising science to 70% we can research Democracy in two turns.

Our current civics are: representation, free speech, caste system, free market, and organized religion. Although it doesn’t make a great deal of difference we will switch to universal suffrage to remain in character. Castes system is creating a great deal of unhappiness so I think we need to adopt emancipation. Organized religion is doing us little good for all that it costs. I think free Religion would be much more useful for us.

Aside from that I’d like to continue the military buildup for the invasion and conquest of Khmer in the East.

What do you think?

To add to the past confusion of time zones, the UK has now finished Daylight Saving so is back on GMT. The US is still on Daylight Saving, so for this week only, Eastern Time is 4 hours behind UK time. Next week it will be back to 5 hours behind when the US reverts to standard time.

Were not sure yet who the prime faction will be yet so this TC is not certain. If it is me though I'll try to make it an online session. Be warned, I'm a bit of a micromanager so it may take a while even to play just 4 or 5 turns.

I had a look at the save, and I see two potential plans to win this game.

1) Space Race, simple, boring, keep building a little bit of military for defence, research refrigeration for the health, Radio for the wonders, and then keep researching and start building space ship parts till we win. We can trade Democracy + 195 gold with Justinian for Economics and Military Tradition. Augustus, Churchill and Gandhi are our rivals, but Gandhi and Augustus only have a small empire. We should probably revolt to Universal Suffrage, Emancipation, Free Religion. We might even be tempted to give away Port Civius (Why the hell did we found that anyway?)

2) WAR! I noticed that our main opponents (Augustus, Churchill, Gandhi) have a grand total of 0 landlocked cities! We can adopt Vassalage, Police State, Emancipation and Theocracy, research Flight and Radio, build carriers, fighters, later on bombers and of course marines and transports, and attack them. I'd be tempted to attack Gandhi first, we can take his cities with carrier groups and marines. Most of his cities are defended by like 4 redcoats, who will be toast against our superior forces. Don't forget to use spies to bring down city defenses.

We can then attack Augustus. 2 of his 3 cities are within reach of continent-based bombers, so attacking him will be even easier when we have bombers. We could then continue a partial land partial invasion war with Justinian (we'd probably have to research the techs for mech inf or modern armor first), or we could decided to pull the marine trick on Churchill.

This way, we could win by domination, which would be cool IMO.

(By the way, has anyone noticed this is the second time Montezuma and Tokugawa have been locked up on a continent of themselves in the Demogame?)

Ya, definitely domination win for me. I was planning to invade Tokugawa first then Montezuma because they are so behind in techs, but I think you're right right, Gandhi may be a better first choice. He has the best economy out of the remaining AI's and so is really our biggest threat. And while he has the technology to build dangerous units his 4 coastal cities (none of which are on hills) are defended by about three redcoats each. We aught to be able to take him out quickly and then be in an even better position to conquer our next target.

Montezuma will probably have LOADS of units as well, better to take a douche like Gandhi :p

LOL So true, so true.

One hour 'till game time, any last requests?

Ok, I'm logged into the chat room, but as usual it doesn't seem to be working. No matter, game on!

Who wants to play the next TC and when?

Couldn't get all the infantry in the boats but we'll be ready next turn to strike York and London.

Here is a little world builder scenario for those of you who want to practice the invasion. The invasion fleet is a bit larger than we actually have just so you can try different combinations. Looks like the odds for each attack are at about 70% so casualties should be pretty low.

Great TC, I think we are ready for a war.

Who wants to play the next TC and when?

No takers? Well then I will play Monday night, which is Tuesday morning GMT.

Is that a "I want to play it" comment? :p
