I wonder if someone could help to find where I can adjust box size for technology?

Greek fire is really long but Steel is very short, how can I change it?

Thanks

The easiest way is to add another item (such as a unit or building) to Steel to give it the longer tech box. One item gives the small box, two or three gives the medium, four gives the long box, and five or more gives the large 'two-story' box.

The other method would be to change the actual graphics in the Art/Advisors/techboxes.pcx file.

The file you want to look at is "techboxes.pcx" which is inside the Art / Advisors folder. If you compare the two you mentioned to Military Training you'll see that the box is picked based on how many items need to fit within it. AFAIK there is no way to force the game to pick a different size box except by adding or subtracting more items (resources, units, etc.) that the tech allows.

EDIT due to cross-post :) The techboxes.pcx has a very tight layout. There is a small amount of room for extending the horizontal length of some of the box sizes. I don't think any of them could be made larger vertically. It looks like you could CnP the row of boxes the Greek Fire uses onto the shorter ones, but be very careful about lining them up.

Expanding on Anthony's suggestion about adding an item - you can create a "dummy" unit or improvement with blank graphics. Then the box will expand but nothing will show up in the added space.

Thanks for the suggestions. I thought it might be related to how many units or buildings is within that box and definitely I will create an extra building to extend the length of the box but why techs The Market and Greek Fire are so long and have some space, which is blank, in situation where nothing is added what could extend that box size?

If you look at the boxes on the whole tree those with 2 use the smallest size, 3-4 use the same size, any more needs a second row so use the largest box. Why the pcx has four box sizes ... :dunno:
