before i mess up my mod, when changing techs, is there any complications liek changing ini files nd copying folders, such as occur with units.

There are a few considerations. The biggest one is that when you add a tech you will have to change the icons for the last tech (alphabetically) by -1 or you will have a crash when that tech comes up. This continues as you add more techs so if you add 2 techs, the last 2 must be changed. For a much clearer explanation, see Plutarck's excellent tutorial.
