i think the techs should go farther, into the tech we have today or maybe an alternative form of it. humans always keep advancing. why would we have computers if we hadn't kept science and research going? the lands of arda can't have too long of an ignorant age can they?

To keep the feel of the LOTR's it should be kept to a limited tech. Otherwise you are just really playing the same civ game on another map after all. At least that is how I see it. I'll deffinately want to play this for the LOTR's experience (with a few twists and turn of course), not just another regular civ scenario.
