Here's a new thread. I love reading everyone's stories, please bring em on. If you want to include your leader, the civ(s) you have picked, difficulty level, and differences from standard options I think that's a good was to start.

In my current game-

Charlie, ? -> Mongols -> Russia, Deity, Longer Ages

I started this game so long ago I can't remember who I was in antiquity and I'm not at my computer so I can't tell you! That's pretty bad but I have a poor memory.

So every game I pick leaders and civs I haven't tried yet with few exceptions.

Russia would be insane if I had more cities in tundra. I only have 3. I started modern with 23/24 settlements because age transition finally completed the four I still had razing. Razing takes way too long, but I'm happy with the change they made to consequences. I made more than half of them cities, so I'm at next to zero gold starting up, and not enough food to grow because I haven't specialized my towns yet.

I need to get better at making more food towns.

Jumping right on getting independent powers and spreading my army out. I ended the age with four naval commanders and I think 17 army commanders. It's absolutely silly. I haven't decided yet when to start warring. I think I'll wait for the two fat cats left, Trung and Hatshepsut, to pick an ideology and then I'll pick something different. They will be my targets this age. With this insane military, I'm thinking about doing a domination victory. I don't like playing modern much but this will give it meaning.

So welcome to the new thread, I love reading your stories, let's go!

EDIT- It was Rome! I started with Rome.

Just started a new game as Confucius/Han, sovereign difficulty, pangaea plus. It's my second Confucius/Han game after the patch. :)

Decided to try with two scouts start, usually I do one and then build military.

Then did some warriors. Chose to be a despotism, my favorite ancient age government.

Turn 14: Met Amina. At this time I had popped 5 or 6 goody huts, so good output. Amina is too close for comfort though.

Turn 16: Met Techumseh. Hope he's not too close too.

Turn 23: Settled second settlement, made IP angry. Let's hope my (so far) four warriors can defend me. :P

I notice there's a lot of mountains between me and Amina. This is good. I can settle towards her without having to worry about that flank, it seems. There is some unknown territory to the west I need to check though.

Turn 30: OK, there's two one tile openings in the mountain range. Should be defensible, if I can move my next settler down there fast!

Turn 33: Met Catherine. No idea where she is. :P

Turn 35: I have 3 settlements, another on the way and hope to all things that is holy that the three met leaders will remain nice to me until I have built up my army. :D

Hah! One turn later, Amina decreases our relations. :P

Turn 47: We go to war. It is now or never!

Turn 48: One front good, I took their smallest settlement. But the main front against their capital is in dire straits at this point. I need to move down quickly from the other side!

Turn 53: Almost my entire 6 unit army near their capital is gone. I have taken another settlement from them due east. Yay! Now I need to withstand their obliterating my armies for four more turns...

Turn : I make peace, demanding a third settlement, and Amina agrees! Big win! She is now only in possession of her capital. And I am only two points away from military legacy victory. :)

I picked Isabella of Greece with 4 random AI on a standard map and game speed with long eras. Playing this game on viceroy but also like playing on sovereign. I always go with random AI as i prefer not knowing who the AI will have but sometimes it gets repetitive so in my next game i may pick some i haven't play against yet, if i can remember who those are. We really need to be able to view our play history.

spawned 2 tiles from a natural wonder then was able to create my 4th settlement adjacent to another one. Just entered the exploration age as the Normans. Completed all the legacy paths except for the military one in atiquity as i usually try to avoid starting wars, but have 3 cities, 5 towns, one of which was an IP that i befriended so i could have a settlement on the opposite coast.

cannot wait for later this month when they add large maps.

Tecumseh as Greece, Pangea Plus

I'd done a suzerain-themed run before, but that was very early on when civ 7 had just released. This time, experiencing the sheer power of that synergy was so fun.

I'm also officially in love with Pangea Plus. Such nice cliffs and interesting shorelines. This one also has an area that consists of lots of little islands with channels between them which is cool (I'll get a screenshot next time I open the game). I haven't explored all the continent yet - I just got to the end of Antiquity, and one downside to this map script is that world wars seem to happen very early on. I could probably count on one hand the turns where I wasn't at war with someone. That made exploring tricky as I'm right in the middle of the continent, plus everyone attacking my city-states meant I couldn't really get a domino effect going of suzing a city-state, having that city-state discover another IP, etc.

Nevertheless pretty successful era. Got all seven wonders, but last one knocked the era progress to 100% and I only got a couple milestones on other paths. Some very sweet sci/prod adjacencies too which have survived pretty intact into Exploration, so I'll be able to get a good start there (although I highly doubt I'll get to the islands before everyone else).

Playing Diety Xerxes the Achaemenid as Aksum on Archipelago map with the plan of having as many trade routes as possible. I start in the bottom left portion of the map and set my eyes on expansion early. I meet Trung Trac first, towards the middle of the map. Being my nearest neighbor (and known for violence) I want to appease her with trade routes as soon as possible. Luckily, the Dhow unique unit makes it too easy. (Seriously what a great unique unit especially on archipelago. I never had to build/buy a merchant.)

As my Dhow fleet explores looking for other locales to trade their wares, I am introduced to Tecumseh, Ashoka World Renouncer, and Himiko Queen of Wa. I must trade with them as soon as possible. For some reason, I am not within range, but I must push forward! (Seriously I don't understand the trade route ranges. AFAIK it seemed like the more I explored and found territory claimed by other civs, the better the trade route range got.)

I expand my Civilization to six settlements with plans for three more in the future. (Happiness is a problem) The rest of the world is not having such a great time. Turmoil ensues as enemies and alliances clash. On one end Trun Tac and Ashoka and on the other end Tecumseh and Himiko. Who will win? Time will tell, but one thing is for certain....... Xerxes is about to profit heavily 😁😁😁

Aside from a constant barrage of dhows, my Civilization also produces a substantial amount of Wonders as we are a cultured people. (And not barbaric savages) Hopes of praising the Hawilt all over our lands quickly fade as other needs arise. (The lack of land made it difficult to spam unique improvements to take advantage of Xerxes Unique Ability)

As the riches, gold, treasures, and culture come pouring in from returning fleets of dhow, the age slowly begins to come to an end. What mysteries lie in wait to the West past the horizon? The next age begins.......

Short story: I played as Harriet Tubman to take advantage of that extra war support. Seemed like the only other person who spawned on my continent was Confucius who was super nice to me and tried to ally with me constantly.

If I declared war on him, I’d feel bad and wouldn’t get to take advantage of that bonus so I got through the whole Antiquity Age and now I’m gonna restart lol.

And you wouldn't even get her bonus if you were the one to declare!

I've never had only one other civ spawn on my starting continent. What settings were you using?

About to finish Exploration. I just lost the Science per Turn lead. These two guys making tons of culture per turn too. Turned the conquered cities into towns ASAP. Those will help maintain Science lead next age.

Current Games. Xeres (A). Persia. Found Napoleon Rev(Greece) very early to the east. Denounced early. Sat back and built some troops. When Napoleon (Rev) as Greece DOW, I was ready. Took out both cities. bye bye on turn 63. Found Augustus (Rome) further south of Napoleon (Greece). South-west, shoehorned in was Ibn Battuta (Aksum). He barely had any room. To his West was Catherine (Carthage). She pushed east towards the others. Era ended on turn 144. My score Economic 3, Military 2, Science 2, Culture 2. 5 cities, 6 towns.
Exp Era. Went Norman. Moved capital to east coast (Old Greece Capital). Ibn (Songhai) had war trouble. Both Augustus (Spain) and Catherine (Mongolia) chewed up his empire. I finally took his last city. Ending his misery. In the New World found Hariret Tubman (Inca) with 12/8 Settlements. Ben Franklin (Shawnee) with only 2 Settlements. Finally Friedrich-Oblique (Spain) with 3 settlements. Thru the era, Harriet took several settlements. I missed a perfect era by 1 point. I needed 1 Treasure fleet point, and it was 1 hex out, when the era ended. Economic 2, Military 3, Science 3, Culture 3. In my anger, I choose America for the modern age. Went to reload an autosave, and it was modern turn 1.
Have yet to play this run.

You can still get to your old autosaves, they just move to a subfolder of the save folder called "PREV" I believe. You just need to copy them back into your autosave folder and you can go back and change your choices.

Nice video. If you show your resources panel we can get a good idea of your empire fast, since it shows yields in a compact way.
