Term 1 - Nominations for Culture Minister

I don't really think that much wonder building will take place in term 1, and even were it to, that's not the culture minister's job. ;)

I would attempt to make sure that a realistic feel of Japanese culture was maintained, and, in general, promote cultural buildings, especially in those cities near important territorial things.

Look at DG1T1 (Term 1) - there was lots of wonder building. Then again, it was a very fast-paced term, too.

Well, the first term should see the construction (worldwide) of at least (if the term goes for an average 10 turns a tc, two turn chats a week) three very important wonders: the Colossus, the Pyramids and the Great Library. Optionnal cascade could get the worthless Oracle and the unseless (if inland) Great Lighthouse.

The ancient times are very culture-rich. The Pyramids is, in my own opinion, the most important wonder of the game, as it gives you a granary in all your continental cities. The Great Library is the most culture-intensive building of the game. The Colossus, if built right, can easily give us 12 gold per turn untill Flight is discovered.

Ancient wonders are not to be underestimated. They can give us a headstart to victory.

To all of the canidates, what will your plan be for the Culture department in term 1?

*Well, to get a lot of culture so there wouldn't be any city flippin and make the people happy of course...*

Will you support the building of wonders that would benifit the nation?

*Yes I will build wonders for the beifit of the nation. I would first ask to the citizen what wonders would you like to build. If there is a couple of choices, put a poll on it and the most votes we build that wonder. The the one that came in second we will build that too unless the citizens change there minds.*[/b

Still, it isn't the job of the Culture Minister. ;)

I'd say we would build wonders as soon as reasonably possible in the capital. Being the populist that I am, I think that the choice of what wonders be built (and when) be up to the citizens.

1 - Since we are a religous civ, we get cheap temples. I wouldn't mind the early temple at the start in the capital (10 turns), although that would cost us a warrior or two for exploration. Temples will certainly be built to expand into productive tiles, and resources.

2 - Yes, definately! The Pyramids are one of the highest priority wonders. The Great Library will also help towards culture. The Collosus is another good wonder for stacking the science wonders in a coastal city.

Three questions I'm going to put in every nomination thread (except FA, as I'm running there):

1. Are you running for multiple positions?

2. If you answered yes to the above question, what positions are you running for, and in what order would you accept them if you win multiple elections?

3. If this position is not your first choice as answered in question 2, why should we vote for you here, knowing that our vote may be wasted if you win another election?

1 - Yes.
2 - Culture and President.
3 - N/A, since it is my first choice.

1. Are you running for multiple positions?
-No
2. If you answered yes to the above question, what positions are you running for, and in what order would you accept them if you win multiple elections?
-N/a
3. If this position is not your first choice as answered in question 2, why should we vote for you here, knowing that our vote may be wasted if you win another election?

okay sorta branch of from CT's point as we are religous civ, we get cheap temples, if it should happen and we have literature which would you pick a temple or a Library?

Well I want to try something new.

Boots:
1. Are you running for multiple positions?
Yes, Chief Justice, Associate Judge Advocate, Public Defender, Culture Minister

2. If you answered yes to the above question, what positions are you running for, and in what order would you accept them if you win multiple elections?
Already answered. Chief Justice, Culture Minister, Judge Advocate, Public Defender.

3. If this position is not your first choice as answered in question 2, why should we vote for you here, knowing that our vote may be wasted if you win another election?
To ensure I get on as something, hah. Vote for me to ensure your representation in the Judiciary and/or Culture. I'm committed to a synergistic approach to my positions, and to following the will of the people as expressed in a poll, regardless of what I think.

BCLG:

I'd pick my choice pragmatically, depending on our needs. If the city needs happiness, a temple. If science, a library. Ultimately though, I want both. I decide which first according to our needs, and the will of the people per a poll.

As well, again to the principle of synergy, if the Science leader wanted more libraries, I'd try my best to satisfy his/her/it's desire. Hope this helps.

It depends: if we get a lot of luxuries, and that our cities are reasonably happy, then building a temple would be stupid, exeption made of culture build-up. As said in my first post here, given the choice and some unhappiness, I would tend to build temples instead of libraries. However, if the governor(s) don't get the self-initiative to do so, I would be prone to building libraries, thus helping our science.

(Résumé:
Normal situation: 1)temples 2)libraries
Luxuries haven : 1)libraries 2)temples
Lagging in science: same as above)

I nominate myself, and accept.

I'll second Ulyaoth.

Which would you rather prefer, capturing a city through military means or having it convert due to overwhelming culture?

Blackheart: Cultural Flipping. It involves no loss to us, and we gain militaristically. However, the best choice is a pragmatic mix of each. I'd work towards pressuring cities to flip in weak spots to our advantage where war wasn't an option.

culture flips are a rare treat, military conquest is still the simplest way to secure territory.
