Welcome to the Term 3 Foreign Affairs Government thread! Here will be the base from which our diplomatic operations will be, well, based. I will also try to keep this thread up to date with new information concerning the foreign relations Fanatikos has with foreign countries. If you have any questions, comments, or requests, please, don't hesitate to post them. I appreciate any suggestions from all citizens. Let's have a great term diplomatically!

Goals of Foreign Affairs Office for Term 3
*The destruction of enemies to Fanatikos Security: France, Rome, and Germany Did not Happen
* If destruction is not possible, then the severe weakening of those 3 natons Weakened Germany
* Increase diplomatic relations with Persia and make them valuable allies Completed Successfully
* In conjuction with the Defense Department, discover the second "lost" continent, and make friends with the civs that reside there Completed Successfully
* Increase trade with foreign nations, mainly Persia and civs on new continent Completed Successfully
* In conjuction with the Defense Department, hopefully create a much needed buffer zone between us and foreign nations, through "agressive" means Did not Happen

We have high unit costs at this time as we have a large military for 5 cities. As such, I suggest we use our units to acquire a city from Germany (after the barbarian situation is dealt with). In other words, I think we should go to war with Germany as soon as possible so I can govern a city.

I completley agree with TimBentley. War with Germany is now very oppurtune. As I elaborated in Minister of Defense Ranger99's thread, that war with Germany is currently open for us. With barbs surronding Hiedelburg, a strike on them with say 2 or 3 swords is more then enough to cripple any preliminary, or spearheading war efforts aganist us. This would also, allow us to march on the Berlin without dealing with opposition from Hiedelburg. Also, Rome and Germanys "cease fire" might end after we attack Hiedelburg. Or it could continue for a couple more turns, giving us ample time to move forces in preperation for a strike on the Capture of Berlin.

I have set-up an informational poll in the Polls Section, unfortunatley it's very bad and compltley ugly in it's set-up, but it IS under your Description as Minister of the FA Dept. To set-up the actual polls for War with the Reich. I highly advise you to set these up VERY quickly as today is the 2nd of Oct. and the Next TC is the Fourth. Our window of oppurtunity is VERY small here and we need to ge things moving.

Please consider working with our military and determine an opportune time for our spies to investigate the defenses of Berlin. Our treasury has the funds, the cost is trivial, the risk is minimal and the rewards are useful intelligence.

sure, i'll help is gladly appreciated. i'll give you little tasks here and there, but i would appreciate it if you could get this first job done for me ASAP: please PM your ideas to work with the Defense Department in created our "bufffer zone" with other nations. i know this is really long term, but i would like it, if you could do a little brainstorming. thanks and welcome to the FA Department.

As a suggestion, I would present your plan to found a Consulate in Persia to the People. I do not see any reason for it not to happen, but posting your proposed instructions would provide citizens with the opportunity for feedback.

I would also request that your instructions require the DP to take and post a screenshot of the Consulate when we create it. Likewise, the same should be done with the investigation of Berlin.

Wars
-Seeing as the German War measure has passed neither the Senate or the Assembly, do not declare war on Germany.
-Do not sign any Millitary Alliances or Rights of Passages this turnchat.

Foreign Civ Problems
- If Persia or Rome demands money or a tech from us, give it to them
- If France or Germany demands money or a tech from us, don't give it to them
- Give in to German demands if France has already declared war, or vice versa (we shouldn't be at war with both of them by chat's end!)
- If German, French, or Roman troops enter our territory, ask them to leave
- If Persian troops enter our territory, wait a turn or 2. If they don't leave yet, then ask them to get out
- If Roman trade deal goes through then give in to all Roman demands after the deal goes through

Intelligence and Diplomacy
- If the budget allows, please construct and embassy with the Persians
- If the budget allows, please to a diplomatic investigation of the city of Berlin

I notice in you instructions that you say say to give in to Persian demands even handing over techs, but to refuse everybody else. Please could you explain why we should give in to a Civ that is weaker than us but not to a Civ that is stronger than us (Rome). At the same time you say not to annoy Rome as they are stronger. OK, so the Persians have declared when we refused a demand before, but are we really worried if they declare again? I think not. Whereas Rome is more likely to declare if refused as they are stronger and cause us far more problems if they did declare.

well, basically I want to be good friends with the Persians because they are so far north and getting a city from them is nowhere near as valuable as a city from France or Rome. now, up until now we were giving in to Roman demands, but i changed the FA policy this TC. i did this because i feel our army is becoming strong enough where we could handle them and i want to take a city from them in the near future.
