Hello.

This is a discussion post I hope to allow people to use to convey their ideas for the building of specific Wonders during this next term.

The major proposal has been that of the Knight's Templar in the Augean Stables Stables. For the most part, this seems to have gained much of the public suport, if using the numbers seen are from this poll. However, the poll does not ask when the Wonder should begin construction (Perhaps the wording should have been, "Do you believe it's feasible to start within the next X years the Knight's Templar in the Augean Stables "). Recently elected Governor Furiey has stated in the city thread that she wishes to begin construction on the Knight's Templar as soon as the Augean Stables are ready for such a commitment.

Another proposal brought up was that of trying to construct DaVinci's Workshop in Priapos. The plan is so that future army upgrades can be substantially lowered. As current Governor of Priapos, I must say that I would rather use the limited production of Priapos towards improvements to grow larger, faster. However, if completed in a timely amount, the Wonder could be a great help for our future upgrades. This topic I'm especially interested in, as it effects largely the planning for the city. Perhaps with enough debate on this topic, I will construct a poll to get a strong idea of support.

While the top two subjects are hopefully the main concern, this thread should be left open for all things pertaining to possible Wonder construction in this Term.

We need Sistine Chapel to enhance our future Cathedrals, so we can get our luxury rate back. If this fails, we should go for J.S. Bach's Cathedral.

We could probably have one of these, plus the two mentioned, if we had some type of city growth program in place. To make this dream a reality, you would need to visit the Styx government thread to stop the anti-growth movement.

I suggest building Leo's in Styx or Olympus. The Augean Stables is building the Knights Templar, and Civatonia will be our military production powerhouse. That leaves Priapos which should focus on growing and getting those ocean tiles producing. Sistine's chapel is important, but with 5 cities is it worth it?

Rather than focus on any specifics now, let's determine which Middle-Age wonder we really want, determine our priorities.

Middle Age Wonder list:
  • Sun Tzu's Academy
  • Sistine Chapel
  • Knights Templar
  • Leonardo's Workshop
  • JS Bach's Cathedral
  • Shakespeare's Theater
  • Smith's Trading Company
  • Magellen's Voyage
  • Copernicus' Observatory
  • Newton's University
With a prioritized list, we can focus some of our trades and research in that direction. As wonders get near to availability, we'll determine exactly when and where to build them.

But for right now, which of the middle-age wonders do you want to see built?

Other than Copernicus' and Newton's, I don't see a need for other wonders. Lots of wonders don't affect us much since we are doing a 5CC, but we WILL need help with science come the Industrial Age's higher tech costs.

IMO this should be our priority list:
  • Sun Tzu's Academy DON'T BUILD
  • Sistine Chapel #2
  • Knights Templar #1
  • Leonardo's Workshop DON'T BUILD
  • JS Bach's Cathedral #6
  • Shakespeare's Theater #4
  • Smith's Trading Company DON'T BUILD
  • Magellen's Voyage DON'T BUILD
  • Copernicus' Observatory #3
  • Newton's University #5

Priority #1 - Knights Templar (minimum 3 techs away)
Priority #2 - Sistine Chapel (minimum 2 techs away)
Priority #3 - Copernicus' Observatory (minimum 4 techs away)

Knights Templar - Free military units that are effective for quite some time. Essentially, this is an extra city, dedicated to producing military troops

Sistine Chapel - High Culture, doubles effectiveness of Cathedrals - what's not to like?

Copernicus' Observatory - Increases science. With a small civ size, we need anything that will boost science production

These are my top three. I feel we can get them all, but will need to start refocus our priorities soon.

Knight's templar being built is backed fully and compltley by the Ministery of Defense. As Mr. President said, it's essentially another city dedicated simply to building troops.

There was a vote to build the Knights Templar in The Augean Stables, as such I am planning to gear up the city to enable it to build that. This will involve building Temple and Market and possibly a Cathedral prior to starting the pre-build as well as growing the city and improving the land. The city is currently using uniproved tiles and we have the gold hill unused! As military units are also required, these will be interspersed with the improvements.

Citizens,

This evening, I will post a poll with all Middle-Age wonders, asking citizens to vote on them. It will be a multiple choice poll, and will ask citizens to vote for those wonders that will give a significant benefit to Fanatikos.

The results from that will help to determine our wonder focus. From that point on, I will initiate discussions when we are 1 or 2 techs away (depending on current research rate) from the required technology. We will determine the city to build the wonder, and the timing of the construction. That discussion will take into account the distribution of wonders in other Fanatikos cities, production and the likelyhood of other civs building the same wonders.

Thanks!

Ah, I forgot about Knight's Templar - that is a good, cheap, wonder with great benefits.

However, I feel we are sidetracking: how are we going to build 5+ wonders as some people want while still balancing economy AND warfare?

That's one of the objectives for the poll - what priority do citizens want the various wonders?

That will help in balancing the demands we place on the cities.

I thought the Knights Templar was already decided last term. Is that no longer the case?

It will NOT be on the upcoming poll - it's already been decided, prioritized and assigned to Augean Stables. I hate revisiting decisions like that over and over, so I'm sticking with that previous decision.
