I was thinking it would be good to have a mod which provides a pool of New World city-states for use with the Terra map script, which places all the civs on the largest continent, akin to the Old World, leaving a New World to explore and settle.
The vanilla game's Terra map script places all city-states in the New World. There are seven New World city-states in the vanilla game:
Buenos Aires
Cahokia
La Venta
Mexico City
Nazca
Palenque
Toronto
So I was thinking of a mod that takes around 24 city-states from the vanilla game and renames with authentic pre-Columbian city/settlement names.
There would be equal numbers of the six city-state types: Religious, Militaristic, Trade, Cultural, Industrial, Scientific.
There would be eight North American city-states, eight Mesoamerican city-states, and eight South American city-states.
What would need to be done to make the mod work:
1) Block/disable the city-states not being used.
2) Rename the city-states being used.
3) Set Culture/Ethnicity of the city-states.
I'm not sure what effect Culture/Ethnicity has on the game. The YnAEMP mod uses it with the culturally-linked start option to place culturally-linked civs and city-states close to each other. I'm guessing that it may possibly have some effect on how different cultures appear graphically in the game, such as cities and maybe units. The Cultures/Ethnicities used in the game are: European, Mediterranean, African, Asian, South American.
I'm not sure if it would be possible, but it would be cool if the New World city-states could be separated into their North, Meso- and South American groups, so they'd be more likely to start the game near to each other.
I've done the research, so I have lists of pre-Columbian cities/settlements to use.
