Interesting.
I posted below under "whole barbarian nation" and after playing the game today, I have formed a new opinion about "barbarians".
Background
Playing the world as china on noble.
Just winning, sometimes 2nd.
Never been to war with anyone (had to give away a few techs, but I have a bloodless record).
I was the first to "discover" the American continent but there was 7 or so barbarian cities there.
So today......
I started taking the barbarian cities in America which was good because they were highly developed with courthouses, improvements etc. They fought back passionately but I had grenadiers and knights to their swordsmen. You cant negotiate or trade with them so its alright, right? I didn't feel right about it. Especially when I got to Australia (I'm Aussie and am obviously more aquainted with Aussie "colonialism" than American) and there were these "barbarian" cities already established.
Well, needless to say, I made a massive load from the time before I went to America and am determined to win the game without any "colonisation" what so ever. Just because the game doesn't consider my little "barbarian" friends "civilised", doesn't mean that I cant.
Does anyone else play the game like me (to change history for the better)?
I, for one, want to put in a vote for the Aussie Indigenous population to have their own civ in future expansions.
