Which is better to do with a desert, forest it or mine it. Theres no chance of irrigating it.

You could get to pop 2 by irrigating it - even more if you play agr. With rails you get two food on irrigated deserts (three if you're agri).

There's even less of a chance to forest the desert. For irrigation you can at least wait until electricity or irrigate fresh water towards it possibly.

I think you can irrigate desert, provided there's fresh water nearby or you have electricity. However, pat4 said in the opening post that:

Theres no chance of irrigating it.

I'm guessing that there's no fresh water nearby. In a recent game, I seem to recall irrigating some desert and then discovering that it's just not worth the effort, but that's a different problem.

I wasn't agri. So maybe a more accurate statement would have been that it wasn't worth the effort in that case.

There is another terrain improvement you can use. It's available right from the start of the game, and it will turn the desert into a 2-food tile: a town.

And, believe me, I built those everywhere I could. I wound up with a totally corrupt desert area dotted CxC with farms.
