There will be 2 patches. 1.1 and a christmas patch around 15 december.
That is a lot of content for free.
Developers said that 1.1 patch is as big as a MMO expansion.

couldn't get interested in Minecraft, because it's like what's the point? So I can build a rollercoaster... why? For what? Just never saw the point in that game unless you just want to build lots of stuff.

Feel the same way, getting me Terraria as soon as I can.

Still haven't tried any multiplayer... Seems there is quite a few morons around the online community... So wondering if there is anyone up for some co-op play once the patch is out?
We can start from scratch or play with our old toons... dont really care as long as we play :)

I'm clueless about multiplayer in that game, other than it rarely works, and is about as fun as the server settings/map. Patching it to something supported in Steam would be a major plus. Sponsoring a 24 hours persistent server would be marketing genius.

The Patch is out. Also Terraria is the Daily Deal on Steam for 75% off ($2.50 each).

Yes :) Just started it up and got chopping. Looks like there is a decent amount of new stuff! Started from scratch so still have a long way togo!

Yeah I noticed the main new things were the lighting and alternative torches (torch + gem), which made me grab my Nightowl potions right away. Also there were new recipes for copper. And you can kill birdies and fluffy bunnies.

Looked like the main changes were in later game so I've just transferred a relatively new character to a v1.1 map so I have a chance of finding the new ores.

got it today too!, just in time for the patch, at these prices who wouldnt?

at these prices who wouldnt?

*raises hand*

EDIT: The side scrollingness and gameplay didn't really appeal to me and it looked like something I'd get bored of sooner rather than later. Although it does look like a good game.

Had to give it a chance, although Im a bit turned off about how steep is the learning curve.

Sure the main dynamic digging and day/night dynamic is easy enough, but crafting and building seem to require a lot of previous knowledge to work it right.

Ask the guide. He knows every recipe if you present to him the ingredients (or the wiki if you don't mind taking the shortcut).

Btw, I'm appalled that his exceedingly mean spirited review of Terraria is number 1 on Youtube.

Although I guess I shouldn't expect different from reviewer ROCKCOCK64.

I'm not sure that site takes itself seriously. If it does, it's grammatical expertise is holding the business model back.

Some people need to grow up and stop comparing Minecraft to Terraria.
1.1 update is brutal, but fun. New enemies are vicious. Especially unicorns. And they oink like pigs when you hit them:lol:
The Hallow is a nice new biome. So pretty and colorful. Such a nice place to die once in a blood moon when you will be butchered by a mob of flying, laser-shooting snails.

hehe... haven't gotten very far yet. Haven't even collected enough to have gold items... but I am enjoyig the game again as there are new things and such.
Having trouble with the water tho... there seems to be a lot just where I decided to dig down!

Well... I made a shaft all the way to hell or atleast was planning to, got bugged down by all the water so I tunneled it all the way down to hell and then it disappeared really fast. Guess it is a bit hot down there and it vaporized :)
So now I can complete the tunnel. Also made a one brick highway way up high to collect fallen stars and planted a lot of trees(damn those harpies!)
Think I spend too much time at it already. I have essays to correct for the 8th graders and did totally forget about them! Heheh.
But I got loads of obsidian :) came at a few deaths tho...
Now I'll make some Spelunker pots and skip the gold items and go straight for obsidian ones.
But it is a timestealer this game... it's 3 am and works in another 5 hours!

The dart/traps would be slightly better if the AI didn't have a habit of activating them. Still, an underwater click surprised the darkness out of me. I also managed to find my first ever pair of Flippers, so water navigation became that much easier.

Is it just me, or did some of the procedural generation of terrain change a little? Seems like there are more hills and mountains, and mountain-dungeons. The deserts seem smaller now too.
