Test of Time mod/scenario help

I bought the test of time download version, and, try as I might, I cannot get any of the scenarios to work(or the patches for that matter, to turn it into FW, and can't use MGE since I'm not using a CD, and the No-CD crack doesn't work on the MGE conversion), nor can I figure out how to use the Modpacks.


Help! I'm totally lost!


I miss being able to play Civ 3.. It was soo much easier to use...

Oh, and to be more specific, any time I try to run /any/ scenario, it give me a message about the file in question being an obsolete format. The converter won't run correctly on XP either, as near as I can tell, and the directories I have Test of time installed in has "too many parameters"

The first thing you should probably try is to install the v1.1 patch (must be among the Civ2 downloads here). Though the download version might already be v1.1.

Well, as for the scenarios, Test of Time is incompatible with other Civ2 versions. Scenarios made for earlier versions of Civ2 will not work. That's the "obsolete format" thing. You can convert them using CivConverter (also available among the civ2 downloads). Is that the converter you're referring to? This CivConverter is a command-line program. Just clicking on it won't do anything. You have to run it from the command prompt.

I'm not sure about the "too many parameters" thing. When do you get that?

There *are* scenarios available for ToT, though, and some people have also converted existing pre-ToT ones to ToT.

Also, CivFanatics seems to mostly stick to MGE, with some exceptions. The Apolyton Civ2 Creation forum is a bit more ToT-friendly. Or at least, they might be able to help you better pointing you to ToT scenarios, if the above doesn't suffice:

I meant when I attempted to use the the command line..

And when I dragged and dropped, the scenario converted, but would crash ToT.. and my ToT is version 1.11...

Ah... I think it has to do with long filenames. If there are spaces in the path to the scenario, you have to put double quotes around.

As for the scenario crashes. The converter isn't perfect. You can find an extensive guide to it here:
