I usually play on a large/huge map, and it never fails: whenever isabella is one of my opponents, she ALWAYS declares war on me. No matter what I do, no matter how far away from me she is, she always winds up declaring war. I stand up to her - she delcares war. I give in to her demands - she declares war. This happens to me on both noble & prince settings... is this just a personal vendetta she has against me, or has any one else found this? Is there any solution, other than wiping her out early?

I think there already is a "We hate Isabella" club on these forums...
Personally I like her. Never had much trouble from her.
Maybe it´s because I usually play her... :)

This is a very good reason for you to be prepared to declare war on Isabella instead of meeting her demands or being nice to her. She deserves to be punished.

i´ve had mostly good relationship with her though he is very warlike. The tip is having a decent army and the same religion. She as saladin is very intolerant to infidels :P

Isabella and I were best buds in one of my more recent games. We were across the continent from each other on a Pangea map and I was able to spead my religion to her. She was leader in points, I was right behind her, often taking the lead from her as techs came up or land expanded. By the end of the game, she was at something close to +17 with me. She helped me win, in the end, by assisting me in a war that granted me the domination victory.

i hate this bitc.... i mean, this witch
she always declares war if you dont keep a keen eye on her....

Isabella starts with Mysticism, correct? It's therefore a higher chance that she'll discover her own religion and that colours relations.

Has anyone successfully played a game where they adopt another's religion without discovering their own?

Yes. If you have no religion, no-one hates you for 'falling under the influence of false gods'. When I've been in this situation I've just jumped from no religion to free religion once the other religions started seeping in.

As for Isabella, the easy answer is to play Spain :) .

I've only had one game with Isabella and she totally left me alone and she was on the other continent.

I've never seen "falling under the inflouence of false gods"

The quote mught not be exact, it's the negative thing you get on the diplo screen when you have a different religion from the AI you are talking to.

Whenever Isabella and I play together, she's always after me. Doesn't seem to matter what Civ I play as or what I try to do to appease her.

In my current game she declared war, crossed my borders and pillaged a farm and a road. I replied by sending my horse archers and catapults and taking three of her cities, including the capital. Haven't had any trouble from her since, and sued for peace with a deal that was definitely in my favour. :D

Yeah me too. I just lost to her at Noble level. deleted!

I tried everything too - gave her what she wanted, spread the religion about, tried to be nice - but to no avail.

What really annoyed me is that everyone else was her buddy - she just had it out for the Romans and me. I feasted on Roman remains, then built double-upgraded walls of riflemen in anticipation of Isabella's arrival (I used the civic that gives you upgrade, experience, they were 2xhill or 2xwoodsman or 2xgunpowder right out the gate, 3 deep, on their favorite turf) and she BATTERED me. Just sent too many cavalry and when I started falling back, she did the coup d'grace:

I didn't have a good navy so she (naturally knowing that) sent a couple galleons with cavalry protected by ironclads (I'll keep that in mind for next game you wankah) to hop skip and jump my defenses, and that was that.

Well if you think she's bad on a Noble game, there's a Warlord game (things are handicapped in my favour) that she whooped ass.
So there's a barb city near me, and I put a city right next to the barb city. She captured the barb city before I did, and then declared war. She had horse archers. I had chariots in the city, horse archers and spearman building. So she razed my city right next to her captured the barb city, so I tried to capture her city (there was iron right there, and I wasn't about to let her have it).
In battles that even though I had a good bit of higher odds, she still won. I couldn't stop the war, nor could I win a battle to convince her to stop. I simply deleted the game becuase playing against her just isn't fun.

Count me in for the Isabella-haters club.

I mob her up in 2 of my game.
Nevertheless, she is the one who tought me the importance of defense :)

shes my neighbour, i managed to get her to convert to my religion :D, but no luck, shes declaring war on me every time as soon as peace treaty expires

lol I love Isabella, she makes for some interesting moments. If you want a war, just look for Issy, or she'll find you. I usually play as the Romans, English, Americans, and Germans, and sometimes, usually with the Romans and Germans, I take the heavy religion route; as in I discover judaism or Christianity and establish a theocracy. I tell you, if you want to become unpopular, establish a theocracy and start converting every city in sight. You might make a few friends, but you will make a few enemies. But anyway, I've managed to convert Issy a couple of times and she's always proven to be a staunch ally.

Also, I can't help but to notice how much she, in the game, resembles a pornstar / centerfold (more like a centerfold) I see on the intarweb from time-to-time. Her name's Natalia Cruze. At least to me they remind me of each other.

Isabella is all good. I am glad she gets such a strong reaction. Viva la Spain. ^^

In every game she was in she did declare war on me at least once.

It doesn't matter that she is far behind in tech, not the strongest AI,doesn't have many friends and that the wars usually end with her losing several cities(and onetime even getting wiped out), she is just a triggerhappy bi..h.

Saladin OTOH has not been a problem in those 2 games he was in. Although he is not happy about religious differences he does value a good trade relation high enough to stay at peace.

The leader I usually have the most problem with is Monte. Man, Firaxis programmed him to be an incredible JERK!

I had good luck with her in the one game I was in. Of course we were the same religion, and the other AIs were aggressive, and I purposely befriended her from the get-go. She was friendly to me the whole game.
