The 1.52 Patch Isn't Working

My Civ4 game keeps messing up. The screen goes black and the monitor turns off and messes up everytime it finishes loading the map. Then I keep getting a message telling me something about the driver having to reset itself (VPU Recovery) because the driver wasn't responding or something. I downloaded the 1.52 patch but it isn't helping at all, it's still doing the same crap.

I need help because now I'm considering in returning the game.

My computer specs are:

eMachines Celeron D Processor 2.66 GHz
Hard Drive 80 GB
512 RAM
128 MB ATI Radeon PCI Bus

Try the latest patch, 1.61. http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/patch/
Reinstall DirectX. Install other graphics drivers.
