The AI in multiplayer

Hi, I've been trying to play Alpha Centauri over a lan with a mate and a few AIs, but the AI is terrible (or I've set it up wrong). Does anyone have a list of good settings that I could use to make the AI in multiplayer harder? Also, I'm not entirely sure what difficulty the global level and AI individual levels should be set to. Should they be set higher or lower? Should the players be set higher or lower?

You need to ask Darsnan about AIs. He's the top guy in the field, and along with the most active MPers, mostly hangs out at WPC.
