the AIs use of Nuclear Weapons.

Well, even if I did decide to nuke the invading sea vessels with nukes, the AI still would've nuked me, albeit probably not with 19 combined ICBMs. I don't see normally see them in the game until an AI or myself use them. Once that red button is pushed, everybody loses their marbles

Now the question: Beyond retalition to a nuclear strike what will cause an AI to use such weapons? I have never seen the AI use nuclear weapons first. My fear is that I am building up a huge force to strike France and they have nuclear weapons. Due to the layout of our continent a couple nuclear weapons could cripple my strike ability as there are only a couple of key cities that I own that have bomber reach into the heart of France. A big portion of my ability to damage France will rely on these key cities. If they are nuked my chances of winning the war will fade before the glowing rock does.

Cheers,

I've seen 2 AI first strikes (on me) both happened rigth arfter all other players had been eliminated -- It is no longer scared that everybody will attac it.
AI civ's were a Aztecs and Iroquis.

Word of advice: do not park all Your unit in capital.

Well the war with France is over. It was a brutal war, the buildup included it was over 70 years. There was a brief period were hostililties subsided, and some people were fooled into the illusion that France and Russia could get along ;) ( Mainly the French people :)

The second war with France started the same turn as the hostililities started with America. A nuclear weapon has been fired almost every turn for the last who knows how many turns. Maybe even 100. Not a single one by myself. Only two have targeted my forces ( but now that I think about it they could of been American missiles going into France ) However I did delay the start of these wars till I had SDI.

Before I started the war the world had unleashed the majority of its nuclear weapons on Rome and there was no large stockpile. However throughout the great war of the 1900s more were built and as they are built they seem to be used. My current goal is to deprive the world of their access to oil and then to uranium.

The AI in this game has honestly gone berserk with nuclear strikes. :)

In my experience, the AI will tolerate the "Launching" of 1-2 nukes before canceling out on protection agreements. Whether they detonate or are shot down on the way in does not matter.

It would be nice if they had some sort of biological wepaons as a supplement.

The computer has nuked me in a last ditch effort to save itself escapilly when it has few cities left it launchs it's nukes
But Next turn......

You must be getting pretty brutal global warming in your game. Soon no one will have any more useful (non-desert) cities anymore, and then nuke production will stop, along with production of anything else.

Well currently my continent seems to be doing fine. Occasionally I get the forests into tundra, or grasslands into plains .. but I dont seem them more than 1 every 20 or 30 turns. However the OTHER continent is looking really bad ;)

There are huge portions that are nothing but mountains or desert, and all them are covered in orange goo. GLAD I dont live there :)

In my last game me and the Indians were at war with the Japanese and no nukes had been fired yet. I get the Japanese down to 1 city (population 2) and India still has a good chunk of territory, but feel they need a nuke to hit that last Japanese village.

AI does not like to use nuclear weapons. I've never seen AI attack with 'em before seeing you attack someone else in the same way. Nuclear = hate, it's difficult to use them unleass war and domination are everybody's first prerogative during the game.
