Elizabeth by far IMO.
Very cool UU,fantastc UB as well.
And her traits...Fin+Phi is the best and the 2.best.
AMazing for a hibryd economy.
Tons of money and Great People as well.
How do U think that?:)

Yep, Elizabeth is a powerhouse for sure. Qin Shi Huang used to rock with Ind/Fin, but he's been severely nerfed. Nobody can beat my modified version of Augustus Caesar though! Phi/Ind for the win!

How did one of history's greatest men get stuck with a terrible combination like Cre/Org? Ind/Phi is more historically accurate, given his famous building projects (Ind), as well as the Pax Romana and commissioning of Virgil's Aeneid (Phi). Not to mention the uncoincidental birth of Jesus during his reign as emperor.

If you like cultural victories, Huayna Capac is an easy winner at Noble level.

Financial trait allows you to expand quickly and also keep the technology lead. The tech lead allows you to keep your military top notch and to found more religions. Founding religions (which happens early since he starts with Mysticism) and building the shrine for it feeds back to help your finances since you will be spreading all of your religions to most of your cities.

The Industrious trait helps you quickly build your world wonders quickly. This not only grabs the wonder before anyone else (and remember your tech lead means you probably started first anyways), but it also frees up your cities for the next project.

I'm addicted to Augustus just as he is!
I have been playing him every game for my last 4 or 5.
Out of curiosity.. what is your startegy with Augustus? Julius is more useful for warmongering.. Augustus's combo doesn't have much synergy or appeal to a particular strategy.

Huayna Capac is the best in my opinion. Elizabeth is good but her UB and UU arent useful from the start.

You WILL always build quecha and the terrance.

She's good but Napoleon has become a favourite of mine. Happiness bonuses from charismatic is very nice. I'm not a big fan of organized but now I'm finding that it's so useful when you have a big empire. The UU is not that great. The UB is underrated imo. A free artist means a big boost to even border cities that you've just conquered.

I think he can work as a warmonger and as a builder. But best when combined. I find he's very versatile.

I used to be a 100% builder but now Civ IV's leaders are really aggressive. They'd declare war much more readily now so this means even builders need to have big armies with a lot of experience (which you can get from charismatic).

Yep,The Little Caporel is quite good indeed.Especially in marathon/epic speed.
But in MP games...Even at continents map organized<<<financial.

I must admit that in MP games I have had a permanent partner for about 4 months and we play 2vs 2 games.
This combo is really unbeatable at bigger maps or even at small maps at contintents islands and so on.
At smaller maps and at Team battlegrounds or Hub etc,
my favourites are Shaka and Cyrus:)

Julius Caesar! I have become too acustomed to having Praets in the early game! I have a hard time with separation anxiety when I'm not a Roman leader...

I think one of the better leader is Brennus, but his UU blow and is UB is crappy. He has one of my favourite trait combos. After playing spritual a couuple of times, I just struggle moving back to limitted civic switches because of anarchy. This combined with charismatic means you can easily switch to several military civics and pump out lvl 3 units and depending on GG placement you can get lvl 4 units out. Then you can quickly switch back to some civics that will give you full advantage of the non-militaristic civics.

I like hannibal, Churchill, Toku and Genghis. I'm a bit of a warmonger ;) (I don't play with the Romans because they're so brokenly powerful).

Hannibal is my favorite leader. Financial + Cha is a very powerfull combo plus his UB is fantastic on anything but pangea starts. Hannibal is the only leader I can actually maintain a tech lead with on emperor games without warring.

I like Ramsese alot too. His UB allows you to get a CS slingshot easily even on emperor, plus his UU is a beast allowing an early rush or superb early defence. Spi/Ind is a great combo as well.

the winner is
churchill
protective, brillent defence for the early game (i use this bonus to protect me for early wars while im biulding up my army for a redcoat rush)

charismatic, this trait helps my longbowmen to get to city gar 3 easy)this helps me with the redcaots aswell )plus dont forget the :) it helps the war go on for longer.

uu, one of the later uus in the game but its bloody useful city rader redcaots you cannot stop with rifle men infantry might be even match its my fav uu(hence my avitar)

ub,one of the later ubs the stock exchange comes in when you need the money to support a large empire +15% may not sound like much but its might be the difference from 100% and 90%

when i play as the english i like think what my life would be like if i lived in that world york as the capital(as it should be) and armrica vassalized under british rule .

In the beginning I used random leaders for all of my games in the vanilla version. After I tried everyone at least once I ended up fixing on Washington as my favorite. After the patches and the expansion pack, though, I initially intended to play with random leaders again until I had tried all the new guys. I had a particularly fun game with Stalin not too long ago. Then I tried Ragnar, and I haven't switched for the last four games or so that I've played.

Ragnar (Vikings) is Aggressive and Financial. In essence, he's a fabulous warmonger. I've found it very easy to set up a sort of self-perpetuating Viking war machine in the few games I've played (Monarch). The only problem I've had is trying to limit my expansion in the first half of the game so that I don't ruin my economy.

I've randomly selected Hannibal twice in a row.

Early in the game, with a stable, His UU is 1 pt from three promotions (w/ Charismatic) + flanking. It's a pillage machine. Plus, a 2 movement makes it easier to keep your territory clear.

And, He's Financial.

For some reason, I just can't finish a game as the Romans. I just lose interest every time...ironically, after I have Praetorians (which should be called legions, but I'll spare the rant...).

I love Elizabeth and Hannibal...both beasts on the board, with useful UUs and incredible traits. Hannibal's UB is a little less valuable than the English Stock Exchange, but the Numidian more than makes up for it (I'd rather have Numidians than Praetorians--they are just such a well-designed UU!). I want to play another game as each of them, but I've already played Elizabeth twice and Hannibal once. I don't get to play too many games (I finish one per 2 weeks, on average), so I try to mix it up as much as possible.

EDIT: Fixed a very embarrasing typo.
