The Bismark

On occasion I'll modify this further, as have others. In CBob03, a 100K game buried in the SG forum, we used # to indicate a settler farm, % to denote a worker farm and ! when the city had built all five culture producing improvements.

Great idea! Dunno why I never thought about that.

But there are six cpi's. You forgot research lab I presume?

Well, I didn't either. I forget who did, but I know it wasn't me.

In that game I think we built the Internet, so we didn't need Research Labs. I know that TheOverseer714 built Longevity, which helped our cities grow back faster after we whipped our citizens to build all the culture stuff.

when I name my ships, I write them down (mostly) so that I don't double up on names. I usually don't name Infantry, since there are so many of them, but sometimes I name them '1st Berlin Garrison', or '1st Dresden Garrison' for example.

It also comes in useful for keeping track of how many kills the ships made, for example, in my current game the highest scoring ship is CA (Armored Cruiser) Scharnhorst, which was built in Stuttgart in AD 800 during a war, the Scharnhorst has so far sunk 7 enemy ships.

Oh yeah, the designations that I use are:
TR: Trireme (my added unit)
GL: Galley
GS: Galleass (added)
CR: Caravel
SP: Sloop (added)
FR: Frigate
GA: Galleon
PR: Privateer
SL: Ship-of-The-Line (added)
IC: Ironclad
DD: Destroyer
CL: Light Cruiser (added)
CS: Cargo Ship (added)
CA: Armored Cruiser (Heavy Cruiser)
BB: Battleship
BP: Pocket Battleship (added)
CV: Aircraft Carrier (Carrier)
SS: Submarine
SN: Nuclear Submarine
CVL: Light Aircraft Carrier (added)
CM: AEGIS Cruiser

I would name about 20 units after me, my friends, and family and see who could survive the longest.

I name only the elite units that produced the army. I also like to save several UU units in my capitol even when they are obsolete long ago. So I sometimes name them as well. There are no names that I always use. I try to think of the names that origins from the civ I'm playing and give one of those. For example if I'm playing Russians Vladimir, Germans Hans, Romans Lucius etc.

Argetnyx, did you add all of these naval units to the game? That is something I would like to do eventually, at least for the Pacific War scenario, with the different types of ships. I like your idea of naming ships, as I like using the navy a lot. It would help keeping track of which is which. For any of those interested, a good source for ship names would be Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships in its various editions, as it gives ship names for all of the World's countries.

I found this after I posted my classifications: :king:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hull_classification_symbol
