Frickin rocks!

I just realized that the Black Wind can attack units on land... So I just cut Barnaxus out of Luchiurp city! Ha!

Soon I'll go to war with the little dwarfs with the pieces of their hero safely stashed on the far side of the world.

PS

It also has one of my favorite pedia entries (by Nikis-Knight as I recall).

I love playing as the Lanun civilization, and raising hell with the Black Pearl (ahem, I mean Black Wind) can be a lot of fun. It is too bad seafaring doesn't play a larger role in this mod, if only to give the Lanun pirates something to do.

PS-I sure do like the singing Lanun hero too.

Yeah you can't attack an enemies cities with HN ships if you are at war with them. Not exactly a bug.

Yeah, I haven't played that much, so I'm never sure if I see a bug or just unexplained behavior.

Like when I cast Haste on a mutant Saverous and it doesn't increase his movement... is that supposed to happen?

You can't cast haste on Saverous. Haste only works on living units and he's a demon.

I believe Black Wind can only attack in cities in nations that you have Open Borders with. If you are at war with a nation or have neutral relations without Open Borders Black Wind can sail through their lands but not enter (and thus attack) their cities. Kind of reminds me of the scorpian and the frog parable for some reason.

Becareful giving movement orders to Black Wind (and other HN ships). Move her one turn at a time. If you give it a movement que it will often choose to go through a friendly (OB) city and will attack. I've had her destroyed by this.

I found this out the hard way with a fleet of Pirates. I was at peace with my fellow Dwarves and was shocked to glimpse the message that Gargolyles were sinking my ships

I have yet to see Sailor's Dirge attack a land unit. Can it?

Sailor's Dirge, Pirates and The Black Wind should gain
new significance in BtS with those ocean trade routes.

i agree that naval battles need to have more importance and less linear "attack ships around the area( if there are any) land troops then come back" combat

I assume the Sailor's Dirge can't attack cities as you'd have to be at peace with the barbs and have Open Borders with them and then they'd have to choose to attack you. This won't happen as barbs won't attack civs with the Barb trait and they are the only ones who have Open Borders with barbarians. Make sense?

On your second point... Aye! Can't wait for the ocean trade routes although i'm curious how they will work. It'd be interesting if they did something like currents that speed you along if you follow them but it's still possible to avoid using them to avoid most ocean traffic.
