PRIMEMOVER
Warlord
This has been the subject of countless forums, posts, etc. (which is the best empire to work with?) and after several months of reading those accounts and getting to try something myself, I've come to this conclusion:
CHINA WAY OR NO WAY!
The ability to simply out produce and out muscle and wear down the opposition is really unattainable, in my opinion, with any other CIV. The ability to attrit(?) your opponent(s) is very underappreciated and unless you're simply opposed to using military strength at all, I can't see any other CIV being better. I'm not a warmonger, by nature, but I appreciate the flexibility of being able to be commercial, diplomatic, industrious on one hand (which CHINA can do very well) or go to the hammer when necessary. If you go to war, there's no better civ to have than CHINA, especially when you pile up 20-30 cities at 20-30 pop each and go to WAR-TIME production...LOOK OUT!!
Those of you who've played long enough KNOW the only way to avoid those around you piling on, is by matching them tank for tank, missle for missle! The AI feeds off weakness and they know you're weak before you do! Unless you're killing them culturally, you have to kill them militarily...there's no other way to survive, especially the higher you go level-wise.
I'd just appreciate other's opinions on something that's been talked about (I KNOW) at great length on other boards, etc. Although I've never had this discussion on the MAC board, maybe those of us peasants who are relegated to suffering through the PTW-less world of CIV III might see things a little different?
