Moreso, the lovely globe animation in the original Civ4 menu screen. Is there any way in which i can take that animation and use it as a video clip or something like that?

Yeah and I always wondered what ethnicity is the intro song, and what the lyrics mean.

Its a version of the Lords Prayer. Called "Baba Yetu" (which is Swahili for "Our Father") it was performed by Stanford University's Talisman A Cappella

The 3D image of the rotating globe (and textures and particles) is in
/Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/assets/art/Interface/Main Menu/civ4mainmenubg.nif
This is the same .nif file format as in Morrowind/Oblivion, open it with "Nifscope" or "Gambryo Scene Viewer" or any 3d import/export plug in for that format.
The editing forum will be more actual about this.
