Also (last post, don't worry), there's a modpack in the main subforum (great powers rise, or something to that effect). It hasn't recieved a ton of attention (wrong location, plus the author wasn't fluent in English, so it has weird translations), but I believe it cinverts all civilizations to have modern leaders, adds a scenario, and adds something in the range of 10-15 civs.
Not positive, though. As mentioned above, the translation was kind of hard to read.

I believe Real Name Earth works.
Not sure if they qualify as modpacks, but YnAEMP and ANAC are both bigger ones.

I'd need the long names of the mods, i'm not familiar with many of the abbreviations.

Also, if you want to mention upcoming mods, I know of 3. 'Course, I'm biased, since I'm working on 2 of them.

We already had recently something about upcoming mods on the main page ;).

Ah, see it, moved it now to the modpacks section :).
Can anyone else confirm the description :)?

Gedemon's Yet (not) Another Earth Maps Pack
Optik's "Ancient" Native American Civiliations Pack.

Well, this post is certainly informative, I can tell you that much. So it'll be effective for sure. :goodjob:

Good to catch up on the Civ V modding community.

Very nice announcement, although one minor request if there's still time: the name of my mod. The Alpha Centauri part is now just one part of a set, which I'm collectively referring to as the "Ages of Man" modpack. The future eras are the only content part that's really "done" at this point, as I'm still working the kinks out of the mythology mod, but I've stopped using the Crazy Spatz name since it was just originally intended to be a placeholder.

You should ask the admins if they could rename your forum ^^.
Okay, adjusted it.

Ok, just making sure.

No problem :).

:) thanks.

Took RealNameEarth and R.E.D. now out. The modder of the former is not active currently, and there seem to be some problems, and for the latter, it seems that Gedemon didn't update it to the latest patch and hasn't responded there lately.

The thing will be posted on the main site in 45 minutes.

You should ask the admins if they could rename your forum ^^.

I probably could have, and if you've got a free minute or two to do that then I'd appreciate it, but that sort of goes back to our earlier discussions: with Projects being their own area, separate from the Modpacks, the only people who go into those areas are the folks who already know all about those mods. (Seriously, the traffic is FAR less than I was getting over in the Modpacks area. Like a factor of five difference in download numbers.) So using the old name for them really didn't hurt anything. But you're talking here about a public announcement to bring new folks into the modding community, so it becomes a bit more important to use the less silly name.

Now, if you were to go with my earlier suggestion and put the three Project fora inside the Modpacks area, then it definitely would have been important to rename it. Just saying...

I guess I should replace this thread with someting else, but whatever, for now it serves its purpose.

1) regarding the requested internal links: We requested some more in other areas of the forum, which lead the admins to deny any further internal linking to prevent clutter. Sorry :(.

2) at the next announcement: Last time we had an overview over the mods, this time it will be about scenarios.
Can I assume that scenarios/map files will not break with patches (unless bound to a mod)? I don't care if they might not be balanced after a patch, I just want to know if they can be loaded and played. Background for this question is sure if I have to care about the dates/patch version when the scenarios/maps were posted.
Can anyone answer me this question :)?

Um... not positive. I think the patch that introduced Stone could have broken them, but I'm not positive on that.

Slim at best, I would think. Most of the popular scenarios have either been updated, or use random maps. I think mostly older TSL maps will be problems, more than anything.

Got some help by Cam, Leif and Pouakai, so that's solved now.

So preview for tomorrows (I know, delay, sorry) announcement:

New year, new month, and also new Civ5 mods!
In the first Civ5 files update of 2012 we have 5 mods for you, 3 even totally new!
And not even small ones, with Putmalks Ancient World and Anno Domini we have 2 full grown total conversion mods. Everyone who seeks a totally new experience with Civ5 should take a look at them, maybe these history parts are what you're searching for ;).
The third new is Hulfgars new mod about Industrial Warfare, which limits the game in the future, so that you can have a bit more WWII if you like.
And also the 2 other mods have to be mentioend, Uomo Universalis and Hulfgars modpack, which are both updates to already succesful mods. If you have not checked them out before you should try it now ;).
Oh, and Pouakai released a new wonderpack and bernie made again some beautiful units  (like the one to the right), see the thread for more examples.

Civilization 5 - New additions

And we also thought we should show you this time how many scenarios have been produced yet.
In the modern era our senior modder MaxRiga has mainly been busy :hammer: to cover everything around the world wars and afterwards.
He, as well as Thor Macklin and other modders have also contributed to the ancient and medieval scenarios, like some scenarios about the greek empire, or around the year 1000 and afterwards.
Else we also have a napoleonic scenario and a discovery of the new world scenario to offer.
So, are you bored of the random maps? Why not try one of these scenarios ;)?
