The connection attempt to the host has timed out

Hi

Coming from civilzation 2, would love to play this game. Problem:

Every time I try to connect to an online game I recieve the following:

" The connection attempt to the host has timed out."

I have no idea where to go from here. Help would very much be appreciated.

EDIT: Theres no firewall, im in virus utopia, every security measure is off.

Hi Grandchilli this I suspect is linked with my exact same problems. Unsure if this is linked with the latest BtS patch 3.19 as I never had this problem until after I patched to 319.

I suspect the problem is with yourt ROUTER not your modem. To check if this is the case simply connect your computer directly to your modem and try and get online. If you CAN get into multiplayer games online then the problem is with the router. These ports are linked with the game apparently and should apparently be OPENED. You may have to contact your router manufacturer and talk with their technical support staff.

As an addendum, I have opened all these on my router yet STILL I am unable to connect to my mates multiplayer games over the internet. As I said I was able to do this with 3.17 but as soon as I patched up to 3.19 my online fun was ended! Still awaiting an answer to my woes on a separate but related thread.
