The cossacks conversion collection

Adding to Zulu's suggestion,... and also correctly centered...

They're such great units, it'd be a shame if they didn't get used
for these reasons...

:undecide:

In addition, the default flcs of the cavalry should be absolutely still. Currently, they bob up and down, and it's really distracting.

Cossacks was such a sweet game!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I hated those multi-barreled cannons!!! One pft- crrrrkkkkkk and fifty of my 18th century musketeers are no more... Sigh.. Damn those things.

I don't suppose someone could re-do these units to have civ-specific jackets?

I'm personnally against that. They should be one specific unit for each civ, so no need to have them civ colored.

I won't post it, but you are free to do it in another thread.

About the centering : what is the pb? In SBB they are centered.

I have yet to try any units in game due to the two reasons
mentioned above, but the one unit I did try, the Swedish Pike,
was off center quite a bit.

Could you please post a screenshot of this? In the storyboards they are centered just fine, and flicster shows me the same. (Yeah, I know I could try this myself but currently I've mod going on and I don't want to mess with files right now.)

Zulu: I decided not to make civ-specific uniforms, for the reason that these units have quite dark and 'dirty' colors, and civ-colors are just too bright and clean for them. It just doesn't fit. (And I can imagine the Polish Hussar wearing the ugliest purple hat/jacket...)

Abot the bouncing...I haven't tried it myself, but you may be right. It could be quite disturbing. But this isn't hard to fix. What everybody think, should I make cavalry default completely still?

Here ya go captain,...

Thanks for the screenshot! I'm working on it.

EDIT: BTW, is it only a default.flc, or does this off-centering appear also in all other flcs/directions?

The problem with that is that I would then have French Pikeman, Russian Pikeman, Celtic Pikeman, etc.

This is the unit progression that I was looking for:

Pole-arm Infantry
Man-At-Arms
English_Pikeman.jpg

Pikeman
swedish_17c_pikeman.jpg

Halberdier (not perfect, but it'll do)
engmusk17c.jpg

Gunpowder Infantry
Arquebusier
(CivIII Musketman)
Musketeer
swedish_17c_musketeer.jpg

Line Infantry
english_18c_musketeer_bild.jpg

Grenadier
eng_18c_grenadier.jpg

Cavalry
Cuirassier
napoleonic.jpg
mat_napoleonic.jpg

Hussar
russian_18c_hussar.jpg

Dragoon
piemont_18c_dragoon.jpg

So I don't particularly want to have to do all that on a civ-by-civ basis.

This is just my idea...

As we can now convert all original Cossacks units, all the generic units would have civ-specific colors, while all others (i.e. Spanish Dragoon, Russian Pikeman) would be considered as 'flavour' units and therefore obtain their original colors.

What do you think?

I think the idea is splendid... btw: why aren't these units in the unit library?

oh, and is there just the pikemen that are "off-centered"?

Unfortunately we just discovered that ALL so far completed units are off-centered. However, Steph and I will be working on this as fast as we can, and it shouldn't take too long.

Sorry about this!

I agree: generic units should get civ color, specific unit should not
